Description
Grosopolina, also appearing under the name Kenuo Grosspoliner, is a character from the Silent Möbius film series. This entity is not a human or a creature in the traditional sense, but rather a sapient, extra-dimensional being that takes the form of an enormous sword. Known by the titles the Sword Emperor or the King of Swords, it is a powerful ancestral weapon that once belonged to the great sorcerer Gigelf Liqueur.

In terms of background, after the death of its former master Gigelf, Grosopolina was locked away inside an obelisk for twenty-two years. It remained there until it was freed by Gigelf's daughter, Katsumi Liqueur, who serves as the protagonist of the story. The process of freeing the sword required a blood ritual, and after this bond was formed, Grosopolina attached itself to her, becoming her primary weapon and guardian.

Physically, Grosopolina is a massive blade, described as being approximately eight feet long. Its appearance is dark brownish-black and unnatural. In its inactive or resting state, it is said to fold into a shape resembling a skull or a dragon head. When activated for battle, the sword transforms, extending a jagged blade that looks like a metal tongue along with a long, spine-like tail that extends from the hilt. This tail typically wraps around Katsumi's arm during combat to prevent the sword from being disarmed.

The personality of Grosopolina is that of a wise and experienced advisor. Because it has existed for a very long time and served a powerful sorcerer, it possesses extensive knowledge of sorcery, magical rituals, and the various types of Lucifer Hawks, the extradimensional creatures that serve as the primary antagonists. It acts as a mentor and guide to Katsumi, offering advice and strategic insight during their battles.

Regarding its motivations and relationships, Grosopolina is bound by a deep-seated oath of loyalty to the Liqueur bloodline. Its primary motivation is to serve and protect Katsumi Liqueur, guiding her to the best of its ability. It is fiercely protective of her and is incapable of taking any action that would cause her harm. Grosopolina holds a deep-seated disdain for the Lucifer Hawks and other entities from the dimension of Nemesis, viewing them with contempt.

In the story, Grosopolina plays a dual role. Functionally, it is an incredibly sharp and nearly indestructible melee weapon that enhances Katsumi's formidable magical powers. However, it is more specifically an empathic and intelligent artifact, acting as a mentor figure. It helps Katsumi understand her inherited powers and the dangers of the supernatural world she is fighting against. It is directly responsible for much of her combat effectiveness and serves as a link to her deceased father.

Grosopolina does not so much develop as a character, as it is already an ancient and fully formed entity, but its existence unlocks significant development in Katsumi. By bonding with her, it enables her to accept her legacy and fight effectively. Its notable abilities include independent speech, the ability to change its shape, levitation or telekinesis to move itself, and the capacity to bond with a wielder to become weightless for that person. It also possesses enhanced senses, including the ability to detect other entities and spatial awareness. The accurate name of this character within the context of the motion picture is Kenuo Grosspoliner.
