Description
Fuyuka Liqueur was originally an ordinary woman employed at a television station before her life was profoundly changed by an encounter with the powerful sorcerer Gigelf Liqueur. As she entered into a relationship with him, her latent magical abilities began to surface, leading her to embrace the path of a sorceress. She and Gigelf eventually married, and from their union, they had a daughter named Katsumi Liqueur.
Fuyuka became deeply involved in the ambitious endeavor known as Project Gaia in 1999, which was led by her husband. The project’s goal was to replace Earth's polluted atmosphere with the clean air from another dimension called Nemesis. However, the plan was sabotaged by Gigelf’s apprentice, Ganossa Maximilian, which instead triggered an invasion of monstrous creatures known as Lucifer Hawks from that same dimension. Following the catastrophic failure of the project, Gigelf ultimately perished in the year 2006 while fighting the Lucifer Hawks, leaving Fuyuka to raise their young daughter, Katsumi, on her own.
In the years that followed, Fuyuka developed a terminal illness. During her hospitalization, her daughter Katsumi was a frequent visitor, and Fuyuka used these opportunities to express her deep and persistent worry for her daughter’s future safety, particularly concerning the ongoing threat posed by the Lucifer Hawks. Fuyuka eventually succumbed to her illness while Katsumi was still young. Her death had a profound and lasting impact on her daughter, leaving a significant emotional void. This loss contributed to Katsumi’s feelings of vulnerability and initially made her hesitant to accept her own magical heritage and join the Attacked Mystification Police, the primary force fighting against supernatural threats.
As a character who existed largely in the past relative to the main events of the story, Fuyuka’s most significant role is defined by her relationships and her lasting legacy. She was a stabilizing and caring presence for her husband Gigelf during the high-stakes endeavor of Project Gaia and a devoted mother to Katsumi. Her own background is particularly notable; she was a non-magical human who discovered her powers later in life. This, combined with her marriage to Gigelf, who was known to have distant Lucifer Hawk ancestry, established the unique and crucial mixed human-and-other heritage that their daughter Katsumi inherited. This mixed lineage would later become absolutely vital in the ongoing conflict against the entity known as Nemesis. Concerning her notable abilities, she was able to awaken her innate magical potential and function as a sorceress, strong enough to participate in an event as significant as Project Gaia. While the specifics of her powers are not detailed, her most profound legacy is the magical heritage she passed on, which shaped the destiny of her daughter.
