Description
Popi Harukaze, also romanized as Pop Harukaze, is the younger sister of Doremi Harukaze in Ojamajo Doremi Na-i-sho. She is a young girl with short light pink hair, darker pink or reddish eyes, and a bright, expressive face. Early in the story she attends Sonatine Kindergarten, and later she moves on to Misora First Elementary School.
Popi is the fourth witch apprentice to join the group of novice witches. She is confident, efficient, and quick-witted, and she advances through her witch examinations faster than her older sister does. For all her maturity, she is still a child underneath: she often insists that she is grown up, yet she is known to fall asleep and miss her examinations.
Her personality is self-assured and responsible for her age. Adults and classmates alike admire her dependability, and she is charismatic and persuasive while remaining respectful and kind. She is loyal to her friends, stands up against unkind behavior, and does not tolerate unfairness. In her early appearances, Popi is overbearing and somewhat patronizing toward Doremi, frequently pointing out her sister's clumsiness, teasing her, and expressing doubt that Doremi will succeed. Despite the constant bickering, she genuinely cares for her older sister, and the two share a loving relationship beneath their teasing. Popi also gets along especially well with Onpu, as the two have similar personalities.
Her main motivation is to be taken seriously and treated as mature, and she takes pride in her progress as a witch apprentice. Within the story of Na-i-sho, Popi holds a prominent role as the youngest of the apprentice witches and as Doremi's connection to their everyday family life. Her presence often shows a more level-headed and observant side of the Harukaze household, and she is able to persuade others and help resolve problems through patience and kindness rather than relying solely on magic.
Popi also develops over the course of the story, growing from a know-it-all younger sister into a more supportive companion to the other apprentices. In terms of abilities, she is a capable novice witch who progresses quickly through her training. Outside of magic, she plays the piano and the trumpet, and her favorite color is red.
