OVA
Description
Mindy, known in Japanese as Momoko Asuka, is a main character who joins the group of witch apprentices in the third season of the anime and also appears in the original video animation series Ojamajo Doremi Na-i-sho. She is a transfer student from New York who originally moved to the United States at a very young age and as a result has limited proficiency in Japanese, often mixing in English phrases. Her background includes being the apprentice of the late witch Majo Monroe, whom she loved deeply and attempted to revive through forbidden magic. This failed attempt shattered her own magical crystal and led to her continued apprenticeship under Majo Rika. Her most treasured possession is an earring given to her by Majo Monroe.

Mindy is cheerful, friendly, and eager to help others, but she also struggles with feelings of loneliness and displacement due to her time abroad. She initially has difficulty adjusting to life in Japan and relies on her new friends to improve her language skills. Her motivations center on becoming a skilled witch and patissière, as the group is tasked with passing six patissier exams during the third season. In the OVA Na-i-sho, her story is explored further, revealing secrets about her past and her growth as both a person and a witch.

Her role in the group is that of the newest member, bringing a fresh perspective and a strong determination. She forms close bonds with Doremi, Hazuki, Aiko, Onpu, and Pop, who help her feel accepted. Her relationship with her fairy, Nini, is particularly close, as Nini can speak English in human form and serves as a bridge between cultures. Over the course of the series, her Japanese improves and she becomes more confident in her abilities.

Among her notable abilities, Mindy uses a unique spell: Perutan Pepton Paralila Pon, and in magical stage her chant is Perutan Pepton Sawayaka Ni. Her magical theme color is yellow, and her crystal is shaped like a three-leaf clover. She is skilled in baking and pastry-making, which is a central focus of her apprenticeship. By the end of the series, she returns to America, having grown significantly from her experiences in Misora.
