Manami is a minor supporting character in Shugo Chara!! Doki who attends the same class as the protagonist, Amu Hinamori. She is one of the few classmates who becomes close to Amu beyond the circle of the Guardians. Their friendship begins early in the series; when Amu initially confesses her feelings to Tadase Hotori in front of the class, Manami is among the first to approach her, and from that point they develop a warm and lasting bond.
