TV-Series
Description
Sonoko Nogi hails from a prominent Taisha family, leading to a sheltered upbringing before her Hero career. She initially served as an elementary school Hero alongside Washio Sumi and Minowa Gin. Her intellect, tactical prowess, and calm under pressure earned her the team leader role. During this time, she formed a deep bond with Sumi, gifting her a hair ribbon. After Gin's death in battle, Sonoko and Sumi grew closer. In their final fight against the Vertexes, Sonoko activated her Mankai form twenty times to shield Sumi, who had lost her memories. This sacrifice cost Sonoko her right eye, left arm, heart, and ultimately most bodily functions, confining her to a hospital bed.

Following the Washio Sumi chapter events, Sonoko summoned Yuuna Yuuki and Mimori Togo (formerly Washio Sumi) in the original series to disclose truths about the Hero System. Despite Togo's memory loss, she instinctively trusted Sonoko, a connection reinforced by the symbolic hair ribbon. After recovering from her injuries, Sonoko enrolled at Sanshu Middle School and joined the Hero Club as an official member.

Physically, Sonoko possesses long dirty-blonde hair, typically tied in a ponytail with a ribbon, and gray eyes. Her original Hero outfit consisted of a deep violet suit with coattails and a purple chest ribbon. While hospitalized, she wore bandages covering most of her face and body. Post-recovery, she adopted the Sanshu Middle School uniform and casual purple overall dresses, updating her hair ribbon to include a flower design.

Personality-wise, Sonoko presents an easygoing, often spaced-out demeanor, claiming she can fall asleep or wake up at will. This masks a formidable intellect enabling rapid tactical planning in battle. She is a successful romance novelist who enjoys imagining romantic scenarios between her female friends. Her family lineage includes an ancestor, Nogi Wakaba, one of the earliest Heroes from 300 years prior, whose exploits established the family's status. This connection is reflected in the Nogi family's plant-themed naming conventions.

As a Hero, Sonoko wielded a multi-pronged spear (Sankaku Yari) for mid-range combat. Her fairies granted diverse powers: Kurama Tengu enabled teleportation and dream visitation; Baku allowed dream travel and consumption; Makura Gaeshi manipulated pillows. She possessed 21 fairies total, though most remained unnamed. Her Mankai form varied: the light novel depicted an enlarged spear with controllable blades, while the anime transformed her into a Greek trireme-like warship with blade-like oars capable of generating shields or firing energy blasts. The Taisha acknowledged her as the strongest Hero in recorded history due to her unprecedented 20 Mankai activations.

In later years, Sonoko integrated into the expanded Hero Club. She interacted with members like Yuuna Yuuki, whom she found unconsciously uneasy despite their friendship, and Fu Inubozaki, sharing leadership dynamics. She also connected with Karin Miyoshi, noting similarities to Gin. During events leading to The Great Mankai Chapter, Sonoko uncovered historical records ("Hero Annals") detailing her ancestor Wakaba's team, deepening her understanding of the Hero System's origins. Post-crisis, she advocated for reforming the Taisha, participated in societal recovery, and eventually assumed an omikoshi role within the organization.

In the spin-off "Churutto!", Sonoko joined Heroes from across generations in lighthearted activities, primarily collaborating to create an udon dish for the Hero Club, showcasing her relaxed demeanor and integration into the larger Hero community without combat stakes.
