Description
Yu Tendo is a recurring character in the Metal Saga, first appearing as a young and exceptionally gifted Blader. Physically, he is a small boy with light skin, large, expressive dark green eyes, and fluffy orange or yellow-orange hair that bangs over his forehead. His typical outfit consists of a white jacket with blue highlights, white shorts, and white, boot-like shoes with blue accents.
Yu possesses a generally happy-go-lucky and cheerful personality, showing a genuine and enthusiastic love for Beyblading. Despite his young age, he is an intelligent and astute observer with strong convictions. He has a tendency to idolize powerful Bladers who defeat him and dislikes being patronized or treated as a little boy, a reaction Tsubasa Otori sometimes provokes for fun. Like many children, he can be prone to whining, loves treats like ice cream and pizza, and enjoys playing with toys. A notable quirk is his habit of giving playful nicknames to almost everyone, such as calling Kyoya "Yo-Yo", Gingka "Gingky", Kenta "Kenchi", and Masamune "Mr. Butt-in-Ski". Over time, Yu shows signs of maturing; while still acting childishly in the second season, he becomes more responsible in the third, accepting when he cannot battle and acting as a voice of reason for younger characters like Tithi.
Yu's background reveals he was originally recruited by the Dark Nebula organization, who promised him the chance to battle strong opponents. He was taken in after being defeated by Ryuga, whom he came to idolize as the first person to beat him. However, he separates from the Dark Nebula after they betray him and attempt to destroy his Beyblade, Flame Libra. This event leads him to befriend the protagonist, Gingka Hagane.
