Description
Mineva Lao Zabi, who operates under the alias Audrey Burne, is the last surviving member of the Zabi family and the legitimate heir to the Principality of Zeon. She is the only daughter of Dozle Zabi and Zenna Zabi, born on September 2 of Universal Century 0079 at the asteroid fortress Solomon during the height of the One Year War. As a newborn, she was evacuated from Solomon under her father's orders as the Earth Federation began their assault, and she fled with her mother to the Zeon stronghold at A Baoa Qu and eventually to the asteroid base Axis in the belt. Her mother died of illness in UC 0081, leaving Mineva in the care of Maharaja Karn and, after his death, his daughter Haman Karn, who became her regent and de facto leader of Axis Zeon. Haman subjected the young princess to an imperial education meant to instill the belief that Zabi rule would bring prosperity to Spacenoids, and Mineva was used as a nominal figurehead during the Gryps Conflict of UC 0087, though all real power remained with Haman. At the conclusion of that conflict, the real Mineva was secretly spirited away to live as an ordinary schoolgirl on Earth, while a body double took her place and led Neo Zeon during the First Neo Zeon War. The circumstances of her disappearance remain unclear, though it has been theorized that Char Aznable arranged her escape to free her from being a puppet in Haman's schemes.

By UC 0096, Mineva had emerged from hiding and was working with the Neo Zeon remnant faction known as the Sleeves. However, she had come to reject the cycle of violence that had defined her family's legacy and believed that peace was the only viable path forward for humanity. Adopting the alias Audrey Burne, she traveled to the space colony Industrial 7 as a stowaway aboard the disguised cargo ship Garencieres with the goal of preventing the Vist Foundation from delivering Laplace's Box to the Sleeves. While infiltrating the colony, she was rescued from mortal danger by Banagher Links, a technical college student, and their encounter set the events of the Laplace incident in motion. Throughout the crisis, she worked alongside Banagher to uncover the truth behind Laplace's Box while opposing the violent methods of Full Frontal, who claimed to be the second coming of Char Aznable. She ultimately chose to reveal the contents of Laplace's Box to the world, believing that transparency was necessary to break the cycle of conflict that had plagued the Earth Sphere for nearly a century.

Mineva possesses a kind, focused, and righteous personality that sets her apart from other members of the Zabi family. Despite being born into aristocracy and royalty, she never embraced the militant aspects of the Zeonic movement. Her early experiences during the One Year War and its aftermath, though she was too young to fully comprehend them at the time, left her with a deep aversion to violence and a strong desire for peace. Unlike her relatives, who pursued power through conquest and domination, she has no interest in ruling or inheriting her royal legacy if it means perpetuating war. She demonstrates remarkable courage in her willingness to betray her own faction and even sacrifice herself for the sake of peace. Her pacifistic nature often puts her at odds with those who seek to use her as a symbol for their own violent ambitions. Her years under Haman's tutelage gave her a sophisticated understanding of politics and military strategy, but she chooses to use these skills in pursuit of reconciliation rather than conquest. She shows considerable wisdom and maturity for her age, often serving as a voice of reason when emotions run high.

Her primary abilities lie in diplomacy and political leadership. She has a deep understanding of military tactics, political maneuvering, and the complex relationships between various factions within the Earth Sphere. She is particularly skilled at reading people's motivations and finding common ground between opposing parties. She also possesses considerable personal charisma and the ability to inspire loyalty in others, with even those who disagree with her peaceful approach often respecting her conviction and moral courage. Though not a traditional Newtype, she demonstrates some psychic sensitivity, particularly during moments of intense emotion or crisis, most notably when exposed to Psycho-Frame technology and high concentrations of Minovsky particles, which can awaken psychic impressions of deceased individuals like Haman Karn.

The central relationship in Mineva's life is with Banagher Links. Initially presenting herself as Audrey Burne, she gradually reveals her true identity as their shared experiences bring them closer together. Banagher's idealistic nature and genuine desire to protect others resonate strongly with her own pacifistic beliefs. Their relationship develops from mutual dependence into something deeper, with both finding in each other someone who shares their hope for a better future. Banagher's willingness to risk everything to protect her, even after learning of her true identity, demonstrates the depth of his feelings, and her trust in him, particularly in revealing the final coordinates of Laplace's Box, shows how much she has come to rely on his moral compass. Her relationship with Haman Karn is complex and troubled: Haman genuinely cared for Mineva's wellbeing but also saw her as a political tool and subjected her to harsh indoctrination to mold her into a symbol of Zabi rule. Despite this, Mineva's own convictions ultimately diverge from Haman's ambitions. She is also deeply opposed to Full Frontal, who seeks to use her as a figurehead to continue Char Aznable's legacy of conflict, and she actively works to prevent his plans from succeeding. Her role in the story is that of a peace advocate and the moral center of the Laplace incident, serving as a bridge between the old Zabi legacy and a new path of reconciliation for Spacenoids and Earthnoids alike. Her development traces a journey from a manipulated figurehead in childhood to a self-determined young woman who chooses transparency and peace over the violent rebirth of Zeon, taking responsibility for her family's name while rejecting its militarism.
