Description
Justin Kaidō, originally named Jin Kaidou, is the adoptive grandson of the politician Yoshimitsu Kaidou. He came to live with Yoshimitsu after the death of his biological parents in the Tokyo Bridge collapse, an event that occurred nine years before the main story begins. Initially introduced as a reserved and technically gifted LBX player, Justin is known by the nickname the Split Second Killer Emperor, a title that reflects his quiet intensity and preference for solitude. These traits were partially shaped by his high-society upbringing and the trauma of his early loss.
Physically, Justin is characterized by pale skin, red eyes, and black hair with a distinctive grey-white streak on the right side. His appearance evolves noticeably throughout the series to reflect his changing allegiances and maturity. He is first seen in a formal black-and-purple suit, later adopts a more casual look consisting of a teal shirt and a puffer vest during his time piloting the LBX Triton, and by his late teens, he wears a navy jacket with a silver pendant necklace and styles his hair longer, over his shoulders. This visual progression aligns with his journey from an elite agent of the Innovator organization to a defector, then an ally of NICS and a Seeker, and finally the vice-commander of the Harness unit as a young adult.
In terms of personality, Justin is direct in his communication and has a low tolerance for trivialities. While his early demeanor is distant and solitary, his persistent rivalry and subsequent friendship with Ban Yamano help foster greater openness and camaraderie in him, softening his personality over time without changing his core straightforwardness. A manga spin-off, Jin Kaidou Gaiden, explores his early complexity, showing him as initially dismissive of civilian LBX enthusiasts but also deeply self-reflective about his own harshness, even intervening to protect a girl from a rogue LBX despite his initial reluctance.
Justin's LBX expertise centers on high-speed, precision-based combat models. His primary units are The Emperor and its upgraded version, the Emperor M2, which are known for the finishing move Impact Kaiser. During tournaments and missions, he has also piloted units like Musha and Ikaros Zero. When he adopted the Triton in his mid-teens, it signaled a tactical shift toward prioritizing agility. By the age of eighteen, while serving as the vice-commander of Harness, he commanded more advanced units like Proto Zenon and Zenon, which emphasized sophisticated combat analytics. His battle record includes being a runner-up at the Angra Visdas and Artemis tournaments in 2050 and a finalist at the Akihabara Kingdom and Artemis tournaments in 2051, with notable victories against elite opponents such as Lex and Hanzou.
Key relationships define his character arc. His loyalty to his adoptive grandfather, Yoshimitsu Kaidou, is frequently strained by the politician's morally ambiguous schemes. His rivalry with Ban Yamano is central to his development, ultimately evolving into a strong friendship and alliance against threats such as the unstable Yuuya Haibara. Justin also shares a protective bond with Yuuya, evident in his post-battle care for him and their later collaboration. His narrative is marked by several critical turning points, including his defection from Innovator after witnessing their manipulative practices, aiding Ban in freeing Yuuya from Psycho Scanning Mode during the Artemis finals, and participating in cross-world crises as seen in the film Inazuma Eleven GO vs. Danbōru Senki W. By the time of the Wars storyline, his role transitions toward leadership and mentorship within Harness and later Jenock, completing a trajectory from an isolated prodigy to a dedicated protector.
