Description
Kaidou Yoshimitsu is a central antagonist from the LBX anime series, serving as the head of the mysterious organization known as the Innovator. Publicly, he holds the prestigious positions of a cabinet minister in the parliament and the chairman of the powerful Kaidou Foundation. To the outside world, he presents the facade of a noble governmental figure. However, his true nature is that of an ambitious and ruthless strategist, driven by a desire for world domination. He is also the adoptive grandfather of the skilled LBX player, Jin Kaidou, having taken the boy in following the Tokio Bridge collapse incident, a tragedy he was secretly responsible for causing. He is the root cause of many of the series' central conflicts.

Yoshimitsu's personality is defined by his cunning and his willingness to achieve his goals regardless of the cost. He is a master strategist who specializes in identifying and exploiting the weaknesses of his opponents, and he does not hesitate to cause civilian casualties or push the blame onto others when his plans fail. His core motivation is to seize control of a mysterious and powerful organ inside the LBX model AX-00, known as the Eternal Cycler. His plan, referred to as the Fairy Tail plan, involves using this technology to solve global energy problems as a pretext for achieving world hegemony. To this end, he orchestrates numerous schemes, including attempting to assassinate the Prime Minister and sending his own grandson, along with other specialized agents, to compete in the LBX World Championship on Artemis to retrieve necessary components.

Within the story, Yoshimitsu acts as the primary mastermind driving the plot forward. He commands the Innovator and is the ultimate target for the series' protagonists. His role takes a dramatic turn when it is revealed that he was assassinated following the Artemis tournament. The entity that continues to lead the Innovator and confront the main characters in his stead is later exposed by Jin Kaidou to be an android, a highly advanced robot pretending to be Yoshimitsu. This android continues his plans, piloting experimental LBX units like the Kaixa to oppose the heroes. The real Yoshimitsu was a skilled LBX player in his own right, piloting a powerful samurai-shogun style LBX named Gekkoumaru, which was developed by Kamiya Craft. This LBX is capable of overwhelming multiple opponents with its special move, Gekka Ranbu. The android replica also uses Gekkoumaru in battle, operating with even greater speed and precision than the original human owner.

The character's key relationships are primarily defined by his manipulation of others. His relationship with his adoptive grandson, Jin Kaidou, is distant and calculating, primarily a means to an end for Yoshimitsu's schemes. He also has a contentious relationship with Eiji Yagami, another figure within his sphere of influence, whom he discards when he becomes disobedient. Despite his villainous role, his death and replacement by an android introduce a layer of tragedy to his character. In his final moments, the android's damaged circuits cause it to call out for Jin, who acknowledges his grandfather's role in his past, thanking him for taking him in and teaching him about LBX, which ultimately led him to his friends. This final scene provides a complex, bittersweet conclusion to the legacy of the man who was once the face of evil in the series.
