Description
Bismarck is a character from the fifth One Piece film, serving as a Marine and a subordinate to the main antagonist, Saga. Throughout the events of the movie, he is depicted as being under the corrupting influence of both Saga and the cursed sword known as the Shichiseiken.
In terms of appearance, Bismarck is a tall, slim man with broad shoulders and a notably angular face. His most distinctive features include his red, spiky hair, which is held up by a blue face mask, and his body armor, which consists of a green jacket worn over a full suit of blue armor. This armor provides considerable protection but leaves his face exposed, a vulnerability that ultimately determines the outcome of his fight.
Bismarck possesses a strong sense of justice, true to his position as a Marine, and specifically adheres to a philosophy of absolute justice. This is demonstrated by his willingness to carry out orders to harm innocent villagers without showing any signs of remorse. Despite his strong convictions, he is portrayed as fairly weak-willed, as he easily succumbs to the controlling power of the Shichiseiken. As a subordinate, he holds Saga in high regard, showing him great respect and loyalty while under his command. Bismarck also demonstrates a genuine interest in swordsmanship, as he expresses a desire to spar and train with Roronoa Zoro when the pirate is temporarily working alongside the Marines.
As a higher-ranking subordinate of Saga, Bismarck has command over numerous other soldiers and is skilled with a sword, making him stronger than the average Marine. However, his abilities are limited; he is easily defeated by Sanji, who exploits the gap in his armor by kicking him directly in his unprotected face.
In the story of the film, Bismarck is tasked with carrying out Saga's orders to terrorize the citizens of Asuka Island. He is present when Zoro is brought to the Marine dojo and later leads an assault on a village to secure mystical orbs, where he and his comrade Boo Kong overpower and defeat the swordsman Lacos. After the orbs are taken, Bismarck announces the Marine dojo's control over the island. He later accompanies Saga and Zoro to a chasm where the orbs are to be discarded. During the final battle, Bismarck is ordered to guard a character named Komon. After Sanji defeats his subordinates, Bismarck is challenged and easily defeated by the cook, leading to his liberation from the Shichiseiken's control following Saga's defeat at Zoro's hands.
