Description
Kimihiko Kimizuka's life is defined by an inherent "trouble magnet" condition, attracting dangerous situations since childhood. This resulted in frequent encounters with criminal activities, occasionally drawing police suspicion. His existence shifted dramatically during a junior high flight hijacking, where he was coerced into carrying a suspicious suitcase. Aboard the plane, he met Siesta, a self-proclaimed legendary detective, who forcibly recruited him as her assistant to resolve the crisis. They partnered for three years, traveling globally to solve cases and combat the pseudohuman organization SPES.
Siesta's death deeply affected him. Attempting a return to normalcy as a high school senior, he sought a lethargic life. However, SPES's resurgence and encounters with figures linked to Siesta pulled him back into conflict. Key among them is Nagisa Natsunagi, who received Siesta's heart via transplant and physically resembles her, forging her own bond with Kimihiko. Another significant figure is young idol Yui Saikawa, who hires him for protection, entangling him in fresh mysteries.
His relationship with Siesta evolved beyond partnership; flashbacks reveal profound mutual trust and hints of romantic feelings. One intimate hotel conversation occurred after Siesta consumed alcohol, though the exact nature of the event remains ambiguous. Later revelations show Siesta secretly interacted with him years before the plane incident, disguised as policewoman Gekka Shirogane. Their eventual meeting was intentional; she recognized his unique potential as the "Singularity," an entity capable of disrupting SPES's plans, and later developed genuine affection for him.
Intellectually sharp with strong deductive abilities, Kimihiko excels at analyzing complex situations and observing minute details under pressure. Siesta acknowledged his intelligence while considering herself superior. Physically, he is unsuitable for combat and possesses limited stamina. His personality is characterized by analytical thinking, independence, emotional reserve, and adaptability; he typically processes feelings intellectually rather than emotionally. Though initially preferring to work alone, his experiences gradually lead him to accept collaboration with others like Nagisa and Charlotte Arisaka Anderson.
His development shows a shift from reluctance towards his fate to accepting his role and connections. He carries the lingering impact of Siesta's death and Danny Bryant's legacy, grappling with unresolved desires while learning to value preserving memories of the lost over vengeance.
