Diiva is the enigmatic ruler of the Bugrom, the insectoid race that serves as one of the primary antagonistic forces in the world of El-Hazard. Her most distinctive feature is her external appearance, which, with the exception of a few subtle characteristics, is that of a beautiful and elegant human woman, making her the only fully humanoid member of her entire tribe. This striking form is central to her identity and her interactions with the human characters she encounters.
Her personality is a blend of regal authority, pragmatic ambition, and a surprisingly sincere romantic inclination. Upon first meeting the human strategist Katsuhiko Jinnai, she becomes absolutely convinced that he is a divine messenger sent by God, destined to lead the Bugrom to victory against their enemies in the Alliance. This belief shapes her core motivation: to secure Jinnai as her leader and consort.
