OVA
Description
Junior is a ten-year-old boy who serves as one of the primary protagonists in this story, holding the position of the second son of the Viceroy, the ruler of the city-state of Romana. He is also the younger brother of the primary antagonist, a masked figure known as Star Face. A key distinguishing aspect of his background is the nature of his birth. Unlike his older brother, who is a clone, Junior was born naturally from a real mother during an era on the planet Terra II when human females had been fully restored to the population. This fundamental difference in origin becomes a significant element of his identity and the conflict with his brother.
In terms of personality, Junior is portrayed as a gentle and kind-hearted boy, possessing a sweet and soft-spoken nature. He is not an aggressive or violent individual; instead, he firmly believes in the power of love and understanding over physical force, a trait that contrasts sharply with his brother's tyrannical ambitions. At the beginning of the narrative, he shows a caring and patient side by helping Lime, a Saber Marionette who has just been activated and is confused about the world around her. He is also somewhat naive and inexperienced, as demonstrated in a radio drama episode where he finds himself in a vulnerable and dangerous situation, leading to his Saber Marionettes having to protect him. Despite his youth, he displays a protective instinct, as he initially chooses to withhold the truth about the dangerous Sexadolls from his own marionettes, believing it is his responsibility to keep them out of unnecessary harm.
Junior's primary motivation throughout the story is driven by the tragic events that befall his family. After his father, the Viceroy, is assassinated, Junior is forced to flee as he is wrongly blamed for the murder. His main objective becomes survival while trying to uncover the truth and clear his name, which ultimately leads him into direct conflict with his older brother, Star Face. He learns that his brother is the mastermind behind the attack and the creator of both his own three Saber Marionettes, Lime, Cherry, and Bloodberry, and his brother's three malevolent and powerful Sexadolls. In this conflict, Junior acts as the moral center and the master for his three marionettes, who are fiercely loyal to him and fight to protect him and reclaim the throne of Romana.
His key relationships are central to the plot. His bond with his three Saber Marionettes, Lime, Cherry, and Bloodberry, is the most significant. While he cares for all of them, his relationship with each has a different dynamic. For instance, he acts as a guardian to the childlike Lime, who is deeply attached to him. He also shares a more understanding and confiding relationship with Bloodberry, who is willing to defy his orders to keep him safe. In contrast, his relationship with his brother, Star Face, is a tragic Cain and Abel archetype, defined by betrayal, jealousy, and a murderous intent from the older sibling, who cannot accept that Junior is the naturally born son and successor. At the conclusion of the story, following his brother's death, Junior finds himself feeling lonely and orphaned, but he is comforted by Lime and Cherry, who emerge from the wreckage to promise that they will always be by his side.
Junior undergoes significant development throughout the crisis. He starts as a young, somewhat sheltered prince who is given a marionette as a gift. By the end, he has faced the death of his father and brother, endured betrayal, and has been forced to grow up quickly. He learns the painful truth about his family and accepts his role as the successor to the legacy of previous heroes like Otaru Namiya. In terms of abilities, Junior does not possess any remarkable physical strength or combat skills. He is characterized as a non-action hero whose strength lies in his compassion and his ability to inspire loyalty in his powerful marionettes. His role is that of a leader and a master whose emotional bonds with Lime, Cherry, and Bloodberry empower them to fight on his behalf.
