Description
Arashi Kishu is a central character in the anime X, known as a Dragon of Heaven, or one of the Seven Seals, who fights to protect humanity from the destruction sought by the Dragons of Earth. She is also called the Hidden Shrine Maiden, as she was raised at the Ise Shrine, one of the most sacred sites in Japan, and is said to conceal the shrine's great power within her body.
Her background is marked by tragedy. Her mother was also a shrine maiden at Ise who fled while pregnant upon learning her unborn child was destined to become a Dragon of Heaven, hoping to spare her daughter from that fate. Arashi's mother died when she was seven years old, leaving her to live in poverty and homelessness. At her lowest point, starving and considering giving up on life, she was found by Kaede, the head priestess of the Ise Shrine. Kaede convinced the desolate child to continue living, partly by telling her that she would one day meet someone who would fall in love with her, and that her own life would be sad if Arashi were to die.
