Haruka Tenou is the civilian identity of Sailor Uranus, one of the Outer Sailor Guardians who first appears during the Sailor Moon S storyline. As a student at the prestigious Mugen Academy, she is older than the Inner Senshi, already in high school while they are still in junior high. Her name carries symbolic meaning, with Haruka translating to distant and Tenou combining the characters for sky and king, which corresponds to the Japanese name for the planet Uranus, the Sky King Star.
In her daily life, Haruka pursues a career as a professional race car driver, demonstrating a need for speed that also makes her a talented runner and motorcycle rider. She owns and pilots her own helicopter, named the Tenoumaru, and drives a Ferrari 512M.
