She comes to see Elle as a child of light, loved by the gods, while perceiving herself as a child of darkness, envious of that light. The truth about her father's death is eventually uncovered: the real killer was Louie Francil, a fellow disciple of her father who had plotted for Folly Maya and Elle to destroy each other, allowing him to seize their master's power. After this revelation, her bond with Elle becomes unshakeable, cemented further when Louie is defeated by Elle's adoptive brother, Gau Ban.

In terms of her personal history, it is later disclosed in the manga that Folly Maya was married to a man named Woaks Porelo in Juliannes. She was only fifteen years old at the time of the wedding but abandoned the marriage shortly after to pursue her quest for vengeance against her father's supposed killer. Despite her formidable skills as a warrior and sorceress, she has a notable and recurring flaw: her cooking is exceptionally poor.
