Description
Folly Maya, originally born as Fia Arcana, is introduced as the daughter of a renowned sorcerer who specialized in magical talismans and the Shadow Skill martial art. She is also known by the name Faulink Maya and later earns the epithet the Plasmatizer. Her life takes a pivotal turn when her father is killed in battle, an event that forces her into a life-altering path. According to the laws of the Sui Rem (or Suirame), a disciple must cast aside their birth name until they have avenged their master's death. Compelled by this tradition, she abandons her given name, Fia Arcana, and adopts the identity of Folly Maya, dedicating herself entirely to vengeance.
Initially, Folly Maya is driven by a deep-seated belief that the legendary fighter Elle Ragu is her father's murderer. This conviction fuels her animosity, and she views Elle as a rival to be destroyed. Her quest for revenge leads her to confront Elle directly. In a climactic early battle, she uses a forbidden spell known as the Nothingness Talisman. The conflict triggers a mine collapse, and during the chaos, Folly Maya becomes trapped under the rubble. Despite their antagonistic relationship, Elle Ragu rescues her, an act of unexpected mercy that sows the first seeds of doubt in Folly Maya's mind about Elle's guilt.
This event marks a significant turning point. Choosing to question her initial conviction, Folly Maya decides to travel alongside Elle to understand her true nature. Over time, her deep-seated resentment transforms into a profound friendship and loyalty. She comes to see Elle as a child of light, loved by the gods, while perceiving herself as a child of darkness, envious of that light. In this dynamic, she adopts a role akin to an older sister and often serves as Elle's moral compass, grounding the more impulsive and destructive warrior. The truth about her father's death is eventually uncovered: the real killer was Louie Francil, a fellow disciple of her father who had plotted for Folly Maya and Elle to destroy each other, allowing him to seize their master's power. After this revelation, her bond with Elle becomes unshakeable, cemented further when Louie is defeated by Elle's adoptive brother, Gau Ban.
In terms of her personal history, it is later disclosed in the manga that Folly Maya was married to a man named Woaks Porelo in Juliannes. She was only fifteen years old at the time of the wedding but abandoned the marriage shortly after to pursue her quest for vengeance against her father's supposed killer. Despite her formidable skills as a warrior and sorceress, she has a notable and recurring flaw: her cooking is exceptionally poor. Her abilities are centered on her role as a Sui Rem talisman sorceress, using magical talismans in combat, with her most powerful and forbidden technique being the Nothingness Talisman. Her skill and power are such that Elle Ragu herself considers Folly Maya to be the most powerful opponent she has ever faced.
