Description
Argo Gulski is the Gundam Fighter representing Neo Russia in the 13th Gundam Fight, piloting the GF13-013NR Bolt Gundam. His background is that of a former space pirate captain who, despite his criminal activities, valued life and never killed anyone. During an escape from law enforcement, his ship accidentally collided with a small space station. Argo donned a spacesuit and attempted to save the station's occupants, a couple named Andrew and Norma Graham. He was too late to save Norma, who was pulled into the vacuum of space, a traumatic event that caused him to weep. However, the grieving Andrew Graham mistakenly remembered the incident as Argo callously causing his wife's death, creating a lasting grudge. Following his capture, the Neo Russian military kept his crew imprisoned to ensure his compliance. Argo was forced to become Neo Russia's Gundam Fighter in exchange for the promise of freedom for himself and his crew. As a further insurance policy, a remote-detonated bomb was strapped to his chest.

Argo is a man of few words, described as taciturn and rarely showing emotion. He possesses a massive physique and immense physical strength, said to be enough to take down a grizzly bear with his bare hands. Despite his intimidating appearance and criminal past, he has a surprisingly gentle nature and dislikes unnecessary fights, though he will accept any challenge head-on. His core motivation is the safety and liberation of his pirate crew, which is why he submits to Neo Russia's control. He is a man of honor who values a fair fight; he has no interest in underhanded tactics or having his country strip other Gundams for technology.

In the story, Argo first encounters the protagonist, Domon Kasshu, when Domon is imprisoned in a Neo Russian facility designed to trap Gundam Fighters. Impressed by Domon's fighting spirit and his repeated escape attempts, Argo orchestrates a prison break specifically to have a fair, one-on-one battle with Domon's Shining Gundam. Their fight ends in a draw, and Argo is impressed, stating he enjoyed the bout. Later, in the battle-ravaged city of Shinjuku, Argo is infected by the DG Cells of the Devil Gundam and forced to fight as a servant of evil. He is purified by a member of the Shuffle Alliance, Tris Sergeyrev (the original Black Joker), who sacrifices her life to pass on her Shuffle Crest to him, making Argo the new Black Joker of the Shuffle Alliance.

His key relationships define his journey. With Domon Kasshu, he shares a deep mutual respect, born from their initial battle, and becomes a loyal ally and friend. With his warden, Nastasha Zabigov, the dynamic is complex. She is his keeper, assigned to watch him and ensure he follows orders, but over time she comes to genuinely care for him. Argo learns to trust her, and by the series' end, she disables his bomb and handcuffs, freeing him, and the two are implied to have become lovers. His relationship with Neo Canada's Andrew Graham is one of tragic misunderstanding. Argo carries guilt for the accident that killed Norma and accepts Graham's hostility, but Graham's thirst for revenge is based on a false memory. Only late in the series does Graham learn the truth—that Argo tried to save his wife—and sacrifices himself to protect Argo, finally burying his grudge.

Argo undergoes significant development, moving from a reluctantly conscripted prisoner fighting for survival to a free man fighting for his friends and the greater good. He evolves from a lonely captain worried only for his crew to a true member of the Shuffle Alliance, fighting alongside his comrades against the Devil Gundam. In combat, Argo relies on raw power and immense durability. His fighting style involves tanking enemy blows to get within grappling range, where he uses wrestling and brawling moves to crush his opponents. His signature technique, learned after mastering his Shuffle Crest, is the Sakuretsu Gaia Crusher, a devastating punch to the ground that triggers a massive seismic upheaval, raising pillars of rock to trap or destroy foes. Other variations include the Zero-Kyori Gaia Crusher, a close-range energy blast. The Bolt Gundam's primary weapon is the Graviton Hammer, a powerful flail with a beam chain.
