Description
Wong Yun-Fat is the Prime Minister of Neo Hong Kong and the chairman of the organizing committee for the 13th Gundam Fight tournament. He is a young man of thirty-three with long dark hair tied back in a ponytail and round sunglasses that often hide his eyes. A shrewd and commercially gifted figure, he rose to the office of prime minister at a comparatively young age and is credited with turning Neo Hong Kong into one of the most prosperous states on a declining Earth, a prosperity so notable that the nation does not maintain a space colony of its own.

On the surface, Wong presents himself as a fun-loving and playful man who enjoys watching a good fight, frequently snacking on chocolate and other sweets while observing matches. He keeps a constant smile and an easygoing manner, but this appearance conceals a calculating and deeply suspicious nature. He views the Gundam Fight not as a martial contest but as a game to be used for his own advancement, and he is willing to resort to almost any means to preserve and extend his power.

His central motivation is the desire to make permanent the supremacy that Neo Hong Kong gained when its representative, Master Asia, won the previous Gundam Fight. To achieve this, Wong secretly obtains the Dark Gundam, a malevolent mobile fighter that had been destroyed in the Guiana Highlands, and conducts extensive research on it. Through this research, he discovers that the Dark Gundam operates most effectively when its biological core is a woman with the life-giving power to bear offspring, and he identifies the Neo Sweden fighter Allenby Beardsley, whose extraordinary physical abilities as a Gundam Fighter make her an ideal candidate, as his chosen core. His research and plotting are kept hidden from Master Asia, and the two maintain a working relationship that is really an alliance of convenience. Wong addresses Master Asia as the Master of the East, but regards him essentially as a hired bodyguard rather than a true partner, and each man privately intends to discard the other once the Dark Gundam is secured.

As the host nation's leader, Wong wields considerable influence over the 13th Gundam Fight finals. He personally determines match pairings, introduces his own rules into the tournament, and resurrects fighters who had been eliminated in the preliminaries, such as Mikerot Charlot and Gentle Chapman, to serve as his underlings. He also arranges increasingly difficult opponents for Domon Kasshu, the Neo Japan fighter who becomes a persistent obstacle to his schemes.

Wong's ambitions come to a head during the final battle royal on Lantao Island. Having succeeded in reviving the Dark Gundam, he openly betrays Master Asia and reveals his true intentions. However, his plans collapse when Domon Kasshu destroys the Dark Gundam with the Sekiha Tenkyoken, and Wong himself is caught in the fighting between the Walter Gundam and the Rising Gundam, sustaining serious injuries. With the Dark Gundam destroyed and Domon victorious in the tournament, Wong's bid for world domination comes to nothing, and his research notes are seized by Ulube Ishikawa, who continues similar work.

Wong makes one final appearance when the Dark Gundam is revived with Rain Mikamura serving as its biological core. Climbing into the Walter Gundam and calling himself Wong the Great, he attacks Domon as the fighter races toward space, only to be struck down by the martial horse Fuunsaiki, which arrives to aid Domon. The kick destroys the Walter Gundam and brings about Wong's end. In the side story Mobile Fighter G Gundam Side Story: The East is Burning Red, he appears again as a main antagonist continuing his schemes.

In terms of abilities, Wong is notably not a martial artist. His power rests on political authority, wealth, manipulation, and the technological resources of Neo Hong Kong, and he treats fighters as pieces in a larger game. He is able to operate the Walter Gundam, which is equipped with support and combat functions, but when he later takes it into battle under the influence of Dark Gundam cells he proves far less formidable than the trained Gundam Fighters he opposes. He also makes use of the Berserker system to transform Allenby Beardsley into a pilot under his control and uses the Dark Gundam's cellular technology to further his aims. His character is defined less by combat prowess than by cunning, impatience with those he considers beneath him, and a ruthless determination to make his nation's dominance eternal, traits that ultimately lead to his downfall.
