Description
In the anime Devil Hunter Yohko, Chigako Ogawa, also known as Chi, is the protagonist's best friend and a constant presence throughout the story. A student at the same school as Yohko, Chi is a resourceful and enterprising young woman who enthusiastically embraces the extraordinary circumstances of her friend's life. Her most defining trait is her self-appointed role as Yohko's manager, a position she takes very seriously. Eager to capitalize on Yohko's battles against demons, Chi hopes to turn the Devil Hunter into a successful idol and make a profit, drawing a clear parallel to the entrepreneurial team from the Ghostbusters films.

Chi has a pragmatic and somewhat mischievous personality. She maintains an extensive, self-proclaimed intelligence network, which she uses to gather information on her classmates, often keeping detailed notes and photographs in a pocket organizer. This information typically concerns the most handsome boys at school, which she then provides to the boy-crazy Yohko. Despite her enterprising nature, Chi is a loyal and supportive friend who actively assists Yohko in her duties. However, her involvement in the dangerous world of demon hunting often places her directly in the line of fire, requiring Yohko to come to her rescue. A running gag associated with her character is her love of snacking, which leads to periodic but ultimately unsuccessful attempts to go on diets.

Within the story's narrative, Chigako serves as Yohko's key connection to a normal life and provides ground-level support for her supernatural missions. Her danger serves as a critical catalyst for Yohko's acceptance of her destiny; it is only when Chigako is endangered and Yohko's grandmother is believed dead that Yohko finally accepts the ring that grants her the power to transform into the Devil Hunter. In addition to being Yohko's best friend, Chigako is portrayed as a "Mamono Hunter agent," formalizing her role as the team's organizer and support coordinator. She generally goes by the nickname Chi, and her role becomes even more prominent as she works alongside Yohko and the apprentice hunter Azusa. While Chi does not possess any supernatural abilities herself, her notable skills lie in her resourcefulness, her knack for gathering intelligence, and her unwavering, if sometimes profit-driven, loyalty to Yohko.
