Description
Nahga, also known as Naga the Serpent, is a central character in Slayers: The Motion Picture. Her real name is Gracia Ul Naga Saillune, making her a princess of the Holy Kingdom of Saillune and the older sister of Amelia Wil Tesla Saillune. The trauma of witnessing her mother's murder at the hands of the assassin Booley during her teenage years shaped her early life; she avenged her mother with a spell called Chaos String and soon afterward left home, adopting the alias Naga the Serpent and wearing a distinctive black leather outfit she found in her mother's closet. This outfit, which features impractical spiked spaulders, is a keepsake that she also enjoys wearing for its menacing, old‑fashioned evil‑sorceress aesthetic.

In terms of personality, Naga is arrogant, vain, and extremely self‑confident, often to the point of overconfidence and a notable lack of common sense. She is loud and boisterous, with a signature noblewoman's laugh that those around her find obnoxious. Despite her inflated ego, she is surprisingly resilient and carefree, and she possesses a strong appetite for food, money, magical treasure, and alcohol. Her vanity extends to her appearance—she is tall and very well‑endowed, and she frequently taunts the shorter, flat‑chested Lina Inverse about her physique, playing on Lina's own insecurities.

Naga's primary motivation is to position herself as Lina's greatest rival. She originally intended to defeat Lina to claim a self‑invented title, the Invincible Dark Lord, but her obsession with Lina evolved into a complicated mixture of rivalry, companionship, and occasional betrayal. In Slayers: The Motion Picture, she travels with Lina to Mipross Island, initially for a vacation at the hot springs. Throughout the story, she alternates between helping Lina and working against her when offered personal gain, yet she ultimately proves to be a loyal (if chaotic) ally. Her relationship with Lina is marked by mutual annoyance and frequent physical abuse from Lina (who uses her as bait or blows her up with spells), but they also save each other's lives on multiple occasions.

As a sorceress, Naga is exceptionally talented, perhaps Lina's true equal in magical power. She is well versed in black magic and especially proficient in white magic and shamanistic magic, favoring water‑ and ice‑based spells such as Freeze Arrow. She has also created several original spells, including Bogardic Elm, Freeze Rain, and Void Breath. She enjoys creating golems, though her creations often backfire or go berserk. Despite carrying a large magic sword, Naga suffers from hemophobia—a severe aversion to the sight of blood, which causes her to faint—so she can only use the sword defensively for blocking and parrying.

Her role in Slayers: The Motion Picture is that of Lina's companion and comic foil. She provides both aid and hindrance, and her overconfident, careless nature frequently lands the duo in trouble. Development wise, she does not undergo a major arc in this film; she remains largely the same arrogant yet powerful character from the beginning, though she demonstrates a willingness to cooperate when the situation demands it. Her notable abilities, combined with her distinctive personality and complicated bond with Lina, make her memorable as both a rival and a reluctant partner in adventure.
