Description
Max is the teenage protagonist of the anime Kimagure Orange Road. He is a third‑year middle school student who, along with his father and two younger twin sisters, possesses inherited esper powers. Because their family has been forced to relocate repeatedly whenever anyone discovers these abilities, Max has changed schools many times over the course of his childhood. By the beginning of the story, he is hopeful that their latest move will be the last.
Max is a kind and gentle young man, but he is also deeply indecisive, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. This indecisiveness is the central engine of the love triangle that defines his story. His primary motivation is to keep his family’s paranormal powers a secret from the outside world, while at the same time navigating his complicated feelings for two girls: the tough‑but‑vulnerable Madoka and her energetic, cheerful best friend Hikaru.
