Description
Chibiusa, also known as Sailor Chibi Moon, is introduced as a mysterious pink-haired girl who serves as a central figure in the events of Sailor Moon SuperS: The Movie. Her true identity is that of Princess Usagi Small Lady Serenity, the future daughter of Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion from the 30th-century Crystal Tokyo. In the present timeline, she lives with her younger version of her mother, Usagi Tsukino, and often adopts the alias of Usagi's cousin or younger sister to explain her presence.
Chibiusa is characterized by her energetic, outgoing, and occasionally bratty demeanor. She displays a mixture of childish naivety and surprising maturity, often striving to be seen as independent and brave, much like the Sailor Guardians she admires. Her bickering and competitive dynamic with the present-day Usagi resembles that of siblings rather than a mother and daughter, though a deep, unspoken love and sense of protection underpins their relationship. In the movie, this duality is on full display; she is enthusiastic about creating homemade cookies and easily befriends the fairy Perle, yet she also demonstrates a resilient spirit when facing the film's antagonist, Queen Badiane.
Motivated by a desire to prove herself and protect her loved ones, her role in Sailor Moon SuperS: The Movie is crucial. She becomes a primary target for Queen Badiane, who seeks to drain the dreams of children to power a Black Dream Hole. Chibiusa's capture by the queen’s forces, including the fairy Poupelin, serves as the catalyst for the Sailor Guardians' final confrontation. Her bond with Perle, a fairy who initially serves Badiane, is a key relationship in the film. After a brief but meaningful friendship where she shares her homemade cookies with him, Perle is inspired to betray the queen and help rescue Chibiusa and the other imprisoned children. At the end of the film, their friendship solidifies as Perle gifts her his crystal flute, promising to always watch over her dreams, and she says goodbye with a kiss on his cheek.
Throughout the broader narrative of the film, Chibiusa shows development by taking her training as a Sailor Guardian seriously. While she often refers to herself as a guardian trainee, she fights alongside the other Sailor Guardians to defend Earth. Her connection to the mystical Pegasus, who dwells within her dream, also empowers her, giving her access to special abilities and items like the Crystal Carillon to summon aid.
As Sailor Chibi Moon, her notable abilities include the use of her guardian device, Luna-P, a cat-faced ball that can shapeshift into various tools like a slingshot or communication device. Her signature attack is the Pink Sugar Heart Attack, performed with her Pink Moon Stick, which launches pink, heart-shaped energy at enemies. Although her attacks are generally less destructive than those of Sailor Moon, she proves her bravery and inner strength by standing up to powerful foes, contributing her own power to the combined Moon Gorgeous Meditation technique that ultimately defeats Queen Badiane.
