Description
Shun Imai is a 24-year-old male working as a cabaret club waiter and part-time employee to fund his interests. He maintains an honest and cheerful personality, often displaying enthusiastic and positive energy. His defining trait is an intense fandom for the idol group Mystery Kiss, particularly its lead singer Rui Nikaido. He has supported the group since their earliest pre-debut performances without masks, performed for sparse audiences. As one of their original fans, he believes this grants him special status within the fanbase.

Imai spends significant money on Mystery Kiss merchandise and attends every possible concert. He created a dedicated fan account for Rui Nikaido and collects exclusive items like photos of her making heart poses, images of them arm-in-arm, and a cherished photo from a meet-and-greet where she embraced him. He actively saves money to purchase their CDs, motivated by bundled photo vouchers included with pre-orders. To fund his hobby, he buys lottery tickets, winning one billion yen after using numbers suggested by Hiroshi Odokawa. He attempts to share money with Odokawa in gratitude, but the offer is declined. Imai publicly announces his lottery win online, inadvertently drawing dangerous attention from criminals seeking his money.

With his winnings, Imai plans to buy 300,000 copies of Mystery Kiss's upcoming Christmas-season CD release to monopolize the bundled photo vouchers and secure exclusive access to Nikaido. Beyond his fandom, he possesses perceptive observational skills. He notices inconsistencies in Mystery Kiss's performances, specifically recognizing that the dancer appearing as Yuki Mitsuya during recent shows was an imposter due to inferior dancing ability. This observation aligns with the later revelation that the real Yuki had died and was replaced by Sakura Wadagaki.

Imai's involvement intersects with broader events as his lottery win escalates into criminal pursuit, and his awareness of the idol substitution ties into the series' central mysteries. His character design depicts him with white hair and black eyes. A late-series revelation clarifies that his animal-like appearance stems from Odokawa's visual agnosia, confirming Imai is human.
