Description
Honda serves as the head mechanic for the Space Knights, the special defense force fighting against the alien Radam threat. Born on May 5, in the United Earth Year 150, he is 42 years old, stands 172 cm tall, and weighs 85 kg. He is commonly called oyassan, a Japanese term for an old man or a boss, by most of the other members, reflecting his status as the oldest member of the team.

A man of robust build with a beard, Honda is a master craftsman who takes immense pride in his work. He possesses a stubborn personality but is also known for his generosity, taking good care of the younger crew members and earning their complete trust. His most defining professional trait is his unparalleled skill with machinery. His engineering feats are central to the Space Knights' operations and include the installation of the Tekkaman transformation system into the robot Pegas and performing version upgrades to help the hero, D-Boy, wield more powerful attacks. Honda also designed and constructed the Pegas unit and contributed to the design of the Blue Earth fighters.

Honda has a deep, almost romantic affection for machines. He firmly believes that anyone who does not value a machine is not even human and is prepared to physically discipline those who mistreat equipment. Despite his gruff exterior, he is a romantic at heart, with a handmade kite hanging in his room that he dreams of flying high in the sky once peace is achieved. In his free time, he enjoys playing poker with his comrades Noal and Levin, though he has a tendency to lose money to them.

In his relationships with the other Space Knights, Honda is a pillar of quiet support and loyalty. He is a good friend to the team's leader, Heinrich von Freeman, and is shown to be one of the few members who trusts him completely, even when others harbor suspicions. He acts as a father figure to the team, including the younger pilots who join in the sequel series, Tekkaman Blade II. He also shares a close, enduring friendship with Aki and D-Boy that lasts for over a decade.

Throughout the story, Honda remains focused on his role in the hangar, providing crucial technical support rather than direct combat. He demonstrates a level-headed ability to assess situations, such as when he scolds D-Boy for recklessly attempting to sortie during an enemy attack on their base, instead insisting on properly finishing a necessary repair on Pegas. He is a man of action and solutions, once confidently declaring he could complete a requested weapons installation for the Blue Earth ship in three seconds.

In the sequel series, Tekkaman Blade II, which takes place ten years after the original, Honda appears much older, but his skills as a mechanic remain as sharp as ever. He continues to work behind the scenes, supporting the new generation of Tekkamen and is still seen by the team as a reliable father figure.
