TV-Series
Description
Hun Rii, also known as Tekkaman Sword or by the alias Feng-Li, is a tragic antagonist from the series Tekkaman Blade. Before her transformation, she was the fiancée of the protagonist, Kengo Aiba, and the two were deeply in love and preparing for marriage. Her background suggests she is likely of Chinese descent. During a space mission, she, along with other members of the Aiba family, was captured and forcibly converted by the alien Radam into a Tekkaman super-soldier to serve their invasion of Earth.
As Tekkaman Sword, her personality is defined by a single, overwhelming obsession: her love for Kengo. The Radam brainwashing did not erase this emotion but instead twisted and amplified it to a perverse extreme. This corrupted love became the core of her identity, driving her to commit terrible acts to possess and protect Kengo, even as he fought against her and the Radam. She operates with a fierce tenacity, believing her actions serve his best interests, a distortion that makes her both a relentless enemy and a figure of profound tragedy.
Within the story, Tekkaman Sword serves as a formidable antagonist on the Radam side. She is awakened alongside Tekkaman Ax and Tekkaman Lance in the middle of the series. Her primary mission involves transporting Radam spores to Earth, working in conjunction with Lance. While her individual combat abilities are considered average compared to other Tekkamen, she compensates for this with cunning and desperation. After rescuing the injured Tekkaman Evil from being destroyed by Blade, she becomes the primary active antagonist for a period when both Evil and the leader, Tekkaman Omega, are incapacitated. In a drastic move to get closer to Blade, she mobilizes a Radam Mother ship to attack the Earth, but this gambit ultimately fails, resulting in the loss of the mother ship. Nevertheless, she succeeds in crippling the orbital ring by destroying one of its key ports.
Her key relationships are central to her development. Her bond with Kengo Aiba is the single most important factor in her existence, shaping every decision she makes. Her interaction with Shinya Aiba, who transforms into Tekkaman Evil, is strategic and manipulative. Aware of the immense risk and side effects of Blaster evolution, she tricks Shinya into undergoing the process to transform Tekkaman Evil into a more powerful Blaster form. Her goal was not to help him, but to use him as a tool to deal with Blade, who she saw as a threat to Omega, and perhaps to eliminate a rival for Kengo's attention.
Hun Rii undergoes little positive character development, as her tragedy is her static, unwavering fixation on Kengo. However, her role evolves from a standard Radam soldier to a desperate actor willing to sacrifice her own side's resources. Her end is her most significant moment of development. After enduring massive damage from the Space Knights' weapons, including a direct hit from an interference spectrum device and a Fermion cannon, she continues to fight through sheer force of will and her twisted love for Kengo. In her final act, she successfully destroys the left wing of the battleship Blue Earth, causing it to crash. Immediately afterwards, intuiting that her own death is imminent, she has a final, silent farewell with Kengo before her body oxidizes and crumbles away.
As a Tekkaman, Tekkaman Sword possesses several notable abilities. Despite her name suggesting a bladed weapon, her primary armament is a Tek Lancer, a rod-like javelin that serves as her main physical weapon. Her ultimate attack is the Vol Tekka, a powerful beam of anti-matter energy (pherinium) that is fired from launchers located on her wrists. She is capable of high-speed flight, even in the vacuum of space, at speeds rivaling the speed of light. Her armor features regenerative properties, allowing her to recover from damage when not in combat, and can adapt to any environment, including the vacuum of space. She can also utilize a Radam platform for long-range atmospheric flight. Her armor grants her significant resistance to anti-matter attacks. This combination of abilities, driven by her unending obsession, makes her a persistent and emotionally devastating threat.
