Meteoro Corredor, whose original Japanese name is Go Mifune, is the protagonist of the original 1967 anime series Mach GoGoGo, widely known in Spanish-speaking markets as Meteoro. He is an 18-year-old race car driver who dreams of becoming a professional racing champion and competes at the wheel of the Mach 5, the latest and most advanced car built by his father, a skilled and temperamental engineer. Meteoro is impulsive, fearless, and aggressive behind the wheel, but his personality is tempered by a strong sense of justice and deep loyalty to his family and friends. He often finds himself drawn into dangerous situations that go beyond racing, frequently aiding law enforcement or fighting criminals who threaten the integrity of the sport or the safety of those around him. His primary motivation is to prove himself as a driver and to honor the legacy of his older brother Rex, who left home after a bitter argument with their father following a crash and later reappeared secretly as the masked Racer X, working as an agent for the Interpol. Within his family, Meteoro is the middle child: he has an older brother in Rex and a younger brother named Chispita, who, along with his pet chimpanzee Zequinha, often hides in the trunk of the Mach 5 and becomes inadvertently involved in Meteoro's adventures. His girlfriend Trixie, also 18 years old, is a capable helicopter pilot who supports the team and frequently assists him in escaping tight spots. Meteoro's driving skill is exceptional, but his edge in competition also comes from the Mach 5's array of special gadgets, each activated by a button on the steering wheel labelled from A to G, including hydraulic jacks for jumping over obstacles, cutter blades, and special tire belts for gripping slippery surfaces. Over the course of the series, Meteoro matures from a hotheaded young driver into a more responsible and reliable hero, learning to balance his ambition with concern for others.
