Description
Himeko Tsuruta is a second-year student at Shindouji Girls High School, where she serves as the captain of the mahjong club, playing in the important大将 (taishou) position for the team. She has a height of 162 centimeters and a birthday of March 26. Himeko has a shy and kind personality, and she is known for being caring and considerate toward her teammates. Her most significant bond is with Mairu Shirouzu, a fellow student with whom she has been friends since they attended the same middle school in Saga Prefecture before coming to Fukuoka. Together, they form what is known as the dual ace combination of Shindouji, a partnership that is central to both the team's strategy and Himeko's personal motivations. Her deep care for Mairu is a defining aspect of her character, and she places great trust in her partner's judgment during matches.

Himeko's role in the story unfolds primarily during the national tournament finals, where she competes as the anchor for her school. Her character development is closely tied to her unique mahjong ability, which is intrinsically linked to Mairu. In practical terms, Mairu has the power to impose a restriction on the number of han (the value of a hand) she will aim for when she opens her hand during a match. If Mairu successfully wins that hand, Himeko becomes able to win the exact same round with a hand worth double that number of han. Conversely, if Mairu fails to complete her restricted hand, Himeko finds herself almost entirely unable to win, achieving at most a single han in the rare event she does. This connection means Himeko's performance is heavily dependent on Mairu's success, and she experiences a physical sensation when Mairu is attempting a restriction, which demonstrates the extraordinary depth of their bond. Despite the seemingly passive nature of her ability, Himeko is a highly skilled player in her own right and is considered one of the top competitors in the Kyushu region. Her most notable ability is not merely receiving the doubled hand but, as the receiver of a key from Mairu, being able to unleash an attack that is incredibly difficult for opponents to block, capable of bypassing even other powerful defensive abilities. During the critical captain's match, she performs admirably, gaining a significant number of points for her team, though ultimately Shindouji finishes the tournament in fourth place, with Himeko showing great resilience and tactical skill throughout the intense competition.
