TV-Series
Description
Gremdt Goer is a senior officer in the Imperial Garmillas Defense Force holding the rank of Major General. At 47 years old by Earth standards, he initially serves as the Galactic Theater Operations Commander, a position he obtained through political maneuvering and sycophancy toward Imperial Marshall Herm Zoellik. Goer commands from his flagship, the Geirederol-class space battleship Gelgamesh, and oversees military operations from the Balun base.

In terms of personality, Goer is defined by his extreme opportunism, self-preservation instinct, and transparently insincere flattery toward those above him in the chain of command. He grovels before powerful figures like Zoellik while displaying contempt for subordinates and those he considers inferior, particularly second-class Garmillas citizens such as Captain Valke Shulz, whom he dismisses as an inferior race. Despite his cowardly and self-serving nature, Goer harbors an intense, almost religious devotion to Supreme Leader Abelt Desler. This loyalty remains steadfast even after Deslers government collapses, leading Goer to side with the exiled leader despite overwhelming disadvantages rather than align with the new provisional government, a decision that ultimately costs him his life. Desler himself finds Goer obnoxious and tiresome, though Goer remains blissfully unaware of his leaders disdain.

Goers primary motivation throughout the series is the preservation and advancement of his own status. He seeks the governorship of the Milky Way galaxy and constantly works to claim credit for others successes while deflecting blame for failures onto his subordinates. When his position is threatened, he acts decisively to protect himself, even abandoning allied ships to destruction without issuing evacuation orders when his own vessel is in danger. His driving force is not ideological commitment to the Garmillas Empire but rather personal ambition tempered by genuine veneration for Desler as an individual.

Within the storys events, Goer plays a significant role as an antagonist who repeatedly attempts but fails to destroy the space battleship Yamato. He dismisses early reports of the Earth vessels capabilities as fantasy, leaving the Pluto base commander to face the threat with inadequate resources. After Deslers initial plan to destroy Yamato fails, Zoellik forces Goer to take personal command of the pursuit, though Goer narrowly escapes disaster when his fleet is caught in a dimensional断层 backlash. Following the arrival of the more competent Admiral Elk Domel, Goer is demoted to deputy commander. After Domel is arrested and later resumes command, Goer eventually finds himself reinstated following the Battle of Karel 163. His most dramatic act comes when he learns that Zoellik, his political patron, is behind an assassination plot against Desler. Goer immediately brands Zoellik a traitor and shoots him dead on the spot, demonstrating where his true allegiance lies. After the Balun base is destroyed, Goer leads the remaining 3000 ships toward the Garmillas homeworld, but when the new government under Admiral Ditz takes power, he refuses recall orders and instead defects with approximately 30 vessels to join the exiled Desler.

Key relationships define much of Goers trajectory. His connection to Herm Zoellik is purely transactional based on mutual benefit rather than loyalty, and he discards it the moment the marshals schemes threaten Desler. His attitude toward subordinates and lower-ranking officers, especially Valke Shulz and his crew, is marked by dismissal and condescension. Interestingly, his relationship with Domel is much less developed in the 2199 version than in the original series, with the two having limited direct interaction.

Goers development throughout the series reveals a character who, despite his many flaws, acts with surprising integrity when his core values are tested. While incompetent as a frontline combat commander, he demonstrates genuine administrative ability. Analysis of his actions shows competence in fleet organization and logistics, as evidenced by his rapid reorganization of the Balun fleet into a functional pursuit force within days of the bases destruction. He also displays tactical awareness during the naval review at Balun, correctly ordering ships to disperse to prevent friendly fire when Yamato unexpectedly appears, though this sensible suggestion is overruled by Zoellik.

In terms of notable abilities, Goer is not a skilled combat tactician and his direct military leadership consistently ends in failure. His strengths lie in logistical management, resource allocation, and administrative organization rather than battlefield command. He excels at fleet formation and operational planning in non-combat contexts, and his ability to restore command structures after catastrophic defeats is noteworthy. His true talent is survival and self-preservation, including an exceptionally quick trigger for retreat when his own safety is threatened. Goer meets his end during the Battle with Desler in Subspace at Balun, when the dimensional submarine UX-01, dispatched by the new Garmillas government to arrest him, fires torpedoes that destroy his flagship Gelgamesh, killing him amid undignified protests.
