Description
Hermit Mio, designated the "Mind of Edens," is an android crafted by the former Demon King Ziggy on Planet Granbell to serve among the Four Shining Stars of the Edens Zero. Initially, her personality radiated cheerful optimism, marked by a deep affection for humans and dreams of aiding humanity while forging friendships. This era included collaborating with scientists on Planet Newton to develop an ether-powered weapon. Upon its completion, those scientists betrayed her, deploying the weapon to annihilate Planet Hook and its robot population. Captured immediately after, she endured two years of torture and experimentation under Professor Müller. This ordeal inflicted severe trauma, cementing a profound bias against humans whom she concluded "have no heart."
Rescued by the Interstellar Union Army, Hermit retreated into seclusion on Iron Hill. She left her physical body inert there while immersing herself in Digitalis, a virtual world. Within Digitalis, she isolated herself atop a cliff, exhibiting signs of depression and deep-seated distrust. Despite her prejudice, she aided Shiki Granbell and his crew in overcoming the hacker Spider within the digital realm. Returning to the Edens Zero, she initially refused to help repel Spider's subsequent attack on the ship. Conversations with Shiki and the crew persuaded her to act; she defeated Spider and gradually rediscovered her original personality, albeit tempered by experience and less naive. This pivotal moment marked her reintegration into the crew and the slow restoration of her trust in others.
Hermit wields advanced programming and hacking skills through her "Master Code" ability, enabling manipulation of networked machinery and digital systems. Her techniques encompass the "Autonomic Break-Down Program" for disassembling machinery, the "Ballistic Simulator" and "Aerial Move" for evading projectiles, the "Prison Matrix" for generating containment fields, and "Guns Harvest" for remotely controlling firearms with non-lethal ether-coated bullets. As a Shining Star, she can requip into a "Battle Dress" for combat and achieve "Overdrive," a transformation boosting physical and technical prowess that alters her appearance to feature wing-like protrusions and elongated cybernetic ears. Her android physiology permits operation in extreme environments like space or underwater, supplemented by thermal imaging and heat sensors.
Within Universe 0—a temporal convergence point influencing all realities—Hermit's history diverged: she never encountered Müller. This allowed her to research Ether Accelerators undisturbed and assist Planet Hook without betrayal. Without trauma prompting isolation, she still journeyed to Iron Hill and voluntarily entered the game "Rogue Fantasia." In this universe, she forms a relationship with Weisz Steiner.
Her character arc involves confronting Fie of the Element 4 during the Belial Gore conflict, demonstrating strategic acumen and resolve. After defeating him, she declares her capacity for kindness stems from understanding pain, reflecting emotional growth. Later missions include analyzing the Aquatic Adaptation Lacrima and investigating Foresta's Relic, where she uncovers connections between Ziggy and the planet's history.
