TV-Series
Description
Erzy Crimson, born Princess Elsie Le Lendard of the Lendard Kingdom in the Kaede Cosmos, entered a politically arranged marriage to Prince James Holloway. This union masked her parents' clandestine weapons program, a threat to the wider cosmos. To halt her kingdom's destructive path, Elsie leaked classified military secrets, unintentionally sparking a catastrophic civil war that annihilated both kingdoms, forcing her into exile as a homeless space refugee.
Rescued by the robotic "Demon King" Ziggy's spaceship Edens Zero, she found sanctuary among its crew, including the Four Shining Stars and the infant Shiki Granbell. Forming familial bonds, she helped care for Shiki. Ziggy later entrusted her with safeguarding the Edens Zero, instructing her to deliver it to Shiki when he journeyed into space. Unable to operate the ship effectively, resource shortages drove her to steal supplies from ports, forging her unintended reputation as a space pirate. Over time, she amassed a fleet, commanded the flagship Skull Fairy, and stored the Edens Zero as an auxiliary vessel. By year X492, her power and infamy secured her place among the Oración Seis Galáctica, the cosmos's six most formidable outlaws, earning her the titles "Armored Space Pirate" or "Pirate Queen."
She possesses long crimson hair and wears a black high-collared coat with gold trim, armored boots, gauntlets, and an eyepatch covering her right eye. The eyepatch conceals Ether markings activated by her Ether Gear. A tattoo of her pirate insignia adorns her left arm, and she wields a cutlass. Personality-wise, Elsie exhibits a roguish, thrill-seeking demeanor, often engaging in mischief like feigning villainy to test others. She "half-joked" about selling Shiki and his friends into slavery on Guilst, though her true intent was assistance. Despite her piracy, she adheres to a personal code of honor, showing deep loyalty to Ziggy and respectful, though harshly enforced, leadership toward her crew. Her complex relationship with Justice—her childhood fiancé James Holloway—soured into a bitter rivalry after the war destroyed their homes; she treats their confrontations with playful antagonism contrasting his intense hostility.
Her Ether Gear, "Star Drain," allows her to absorb planetary Ether energy, forging it into armor, weapons, or potent attacks like "Grand Chariot," which summons destructive pillars of light, cementing her reputation as a planet-level threat. Her narrative intersects Shiki's journey when she intercepts his group after their escape from Norma. Initially masquerading as a captor to evaluate Shiki, she reveals her true purpose after he defeats a parasitic imposter mimicking her. She gifts him the Edens Zero per Ziggy's request, repays her debt by shielding Shiki from Justice's forces, and departs, stating she never wishes to see him again.
Later, she investigates Ziggy's reactivation and villainous turn, expressing profound sorrow over his hostility toward Shiki and the Edens Zero. She aids the crew against Ziggy's warship, Edens One, bonds with Rebecca and Homura aboard the Edens Zero—effortlessly defeating Homura in a spar—and reveals her history with Ziggy and the original crew during a briefing, including caring for the infant Shiki. Her backstory with Justice resurfaces when he attacks Shiki on Foresta, shifting her demeanor from playful to lethally serious. Internal guilt over igniting the Lendard war culminates in the Lendard arc, where she accepts responsibility for the deaths caused by her actions, including crew members killed by the vengeful spy Jesse. Compounded by the trauma of killing her own mother during the war, this leads to her sacrificial end: she and Justice allow themselves to be de-aged into nonexistence by a Chronophage consuming Lendard in Universe 3. Alternate universe versions of Elsie remain alive in Universes 1 and 2 following a cosmic restructuring.
