TV-Series
Description
Ms Shikako is a deer character who works as a teacher at Challenge Kindergarten, the preschool attended by Shimajiro and his friends in the anime Shimajiro no Wow! and its predecessor series Shimajiro Hesoka. She is the homeroom teacher of the step class, which corresponds to the intermediate year group. She has light brown fur, a pink nose, and pink inner ears, and she typically wears a white shirt with three-quarter-length sleeves, red pants, and blue flats. While at school she also wears pink shoes.

Ms Shikako is known for her efficient and organised personality. She is described as the youngest member of the teaching staff at the kindergarten and has a habit of becoming flustered or shy when someone watches her. Despite this, she is gentle and attentive to each child in her care, offering guidance and encouragement as they learn and play. She is well regarded by parents and is shown to be actively looking for a romantic partner.

Her main role in the story is to serve as a warm and reliable authority figure who helps Shimajiro and his classmates navigate social situations, solve problems, and develop everyday skills. She often initiates group activities that encourage creativity and cooperation, such as suggesting the children use recycled materials to build pretend shops. She also supports the children through emotional challenges, helping them understand feelings like loneliness, frustration, and forgiveness.

Ms Shikako has a close working relationship with her fellow teacher, Ms Inuko, who teaches the younger hop class. Among the students, she interacts most frequently with Shimajiro, Mimirin, Torippii, and Nyakkii, as well as other children in the kindergarten such as Kanta, Kumakkii, and Sakurako. She is also familiar with the families of her pupils and sometimes appears in episodes that take place outside the classroom.

There is little information about her family. She has a younger brother, and one source mentions that she originates from the town of Chiran in Kagoshima Prefecture. Over the course of the series, Ms Shikako shows development in her confidence and her ability to connect with the children, but her core role as a steady and caring teacher remains constant. One episode, titled We Love Ms Shikako, centres on the children's worry when they mistakenly believe she is moving away, revealing how much she means to them.

Ms Shikako does not possess any supernatural or fantastical abilities. Her notable strengths are her patience, her knack for explaining things in a way young children can understand, and her talent for turning everyday situations into learning opportunities. She is also shown driving a car and is capable of handling the lively energy of her classroom with calm and composure.
