TV-Series
Description
Aoi Yusa is a student at St. Chronica's Academy, where she serves as a member of the student council, initially as the treasurer and later as its president. She is a classmate of Sena Kashiwazaki, and this proximity is the foundation of her character, as she has developed an intense, one-sided rivalry with the more gifted Sena.

In appearance, Aoi is notably petite for her age, with brown eyes and spiky chest-length hair that has a red tinge, a feature that reminds protagonist Kodaka Hasegawa of a baby wolf. Her eyebrows share this red hue, and she is consistently seen in her school uniform, often with a brown cardigan layered over it.

At first glance, Aoi's personality comes across as childish and somewhat strange, an impression that aligns with the unconventional members of the Neighbor's Club. She can be cold and brash, particularly towards those she feels are wasting their potential or neglecting their duties, an attitude she initially directs at the Neighbor's Club and even her own student council president, Hinata Hidaka. Her defining trait is her jealousy and admiration for Sena, whom she regards as the perfect person. This drives her to compete with Sena in all areas, particularly academics, where she consistently ranks second, just behind her rival. Despite her outward hostility, Aoi is fundamentally kind, polite, and incredibly hardworking, and she holds deep gratitude for those she comes to respect. She holds a firm belief that no one in the world is truly friendless.

Motivated by her desire to surpass Sena, Aoi is extremely persistent. She channels her competitive drive into her studies, making her highly intelligent and a capable student council treasurer. This persistence leads her to attempt to disband the Neighbor's Club twice, criticizing its lax atmosphere and what she sees as a waste of Sena's talents. However, these efforts are thwarted by the sharp tongue of Yozora Mikazuki and a direct threat of expulsion from Sena, which visibly frightens Aoi and brings her to the verge of tears.

Aoi's role in the story is primarily as a catalyst in the latter part of the series. Her conflict with the Neighbor's Club brings her into contact with Kodaka, who becomes the only person to treat her kindly during her confrontations. As she helps him understand her motivations, admitting her actions were driven by jealousy, a unique bond forms between them. Kodaka appreciates her genuine admiration, and she, in turn, comes to see him as a wonderful person who cannot stand to see someone in need. When Kodaka begins avoiding his own club, he spends a significant amount of time helping Aoi with her student council duties, which solidifies their friendship and positions her as a key figure in his personal dilemmas.

Her key relationships are defined by rivalry and respect. Her dynamic with Sena is the most important; she both idolizes and envies her, wanting to see her suffer for once while also looking up to her as a benchmark of perfection. She and Yozora are openly hostile, unable to match wits with her during their debates. She finds Yukimura Kusunoki strange due to her devotion to becoming a "strong man," and the two share a mutual animosity that eventually develops into a friendship in later material. Within the student council, she is often exasperated by the energetic president, Hinata Hidaka, but nonetheless respects her and aspires to follow in her footsteps.

Throughout her time in the series, Aoi shows significant development. She begins as an antagonist fueled by jealousy, but through her interactions with Kodaka and the Neighbor's Club, she reveals her vulnerabilities and ultimately becomes an ally. Her journey from a cold, rule-enforcing treasurer to a grateful and friendly underclassman demonstrates her growth. In terms of notable abilities, Aoi is exceptionally intelligent and studious, consistently holding one of the top academic ranks in her grade, second only to Sena. She is also a fast runner, though she admits she cannot match Sena's speed. Her diligence and competence in her student council duties highlight her organizational and administrative skills.
