Description
Kamui Katsuragi is a main character in the second season of the Cardfight!! Vanguard anime, Asia Circuit Hen. He is a young grade schooler with a small stature but an exceptionally large and energetic personality, known for his big mouth and his unwavering enthusiasm for the card game Vanguard. Despite his age, Kamui possesses considerable skill as a fighter and refuses to be looked down upon because of his size, often challenging opponents who are several years his senior.

Kamui’s personality is defined by his passion and impulsive nature. He is ruled by his emotions, reacting with loud, boisterous outbursts and a fierce competitive drive. While he can be brash and overconfident, he is also genuinely kind and very self-assured in his abilities. A key part of his personal motivation is a crush on Emi Sendou, the younger sister of the series' protagonist, Aichi Sendou. He is constantly trying to impress her, which leads him to refer to Aichi as his "older brother" in an attempt to get closer to the family. This motivation often fuels his actions and his determination to grow stronger.

Within the narrative of Asia Circuit Hen, Kamui is a member of Team Q4, the main protagonist team, alongside Aichi Sendou, Toshiki Kai, and Misaki Tokura. On the team, he serves as a spirited and energetic rival to Kai; where Kai is cold, collected, and emotionally distant, Kamui is hot-blooded and impulsive, yet both compete for the top spot as the strongest raw fighter on the team. His role involves traveling across Asia with the rest of his team to compete in the international Asia Circuit tournament, facing a diverse array of new opponents and fighting styles.

Kamui’s backstory provides depth to his aggressive personality. In the years before the series, he was bullied for being short, which led to a period of depression. He was eventually helped by another fighter, Gouki Daimonji, who taught him that true strength is not solely a physical concept. This experience shaped his belief in proving one's worth through the game of Vanguard. Over the course of the Asia Circuit, his development is tied to his desire to back up his boasting with skill, constantly pushing himself to improve and support his team.

In battle, Kamui uses a Nova Grappler clan deck, which focuses on machines and a fighting style based on raw, relentless brute force. His ace card is Asura Kaiser, a powerful unit that embodies his aggressive tactics. A notable aspect of his strategy is his preference for taking the second turn in a game, as this allows him to be the first player to launch an attack. His deck composition reflects his aggressive nature, featuring a variety of trigger units like Battleraizer and Shining Lady to power up his assaults and maintain offensive pressure.
