Description
Lee Shenlon is a supporting character in the anime Cardfight!! Vanguard: Asia Circuit Hen. He is a twelve-year-old student attending the Singapore Institute of Technology, an institution where students study Vanguard as an academic discipline. He is a member of Team S.I.T. Genius alongside his friends Christopher Lo and Ali Pajeel.
Lee is an ambitious and hardworking individual who strives to be the number one fighter on his team. Despite his dedication, he consistently finds himself unable to surpass Christopher Lo, a fact that drives much of his personal motivation. He takes great pride in his abilities and his status as a young university student, often looking down on those who start their training later than he did. This pride is evident when he faces Misaki Tokura in the VF Circuit, where he confidently declares himself the only one capable of defeating Chris.
His role in the story is primarily as an opponent during the VF Circuit tournament, specifically in the third round when Team Q4 faces Team S.I.T. Genius. In that match, Lee battles Misaki. His gameplay shows a strategic mind; when Misaki tries to deny him Limit Break by attacking his rearguard, Lee uses a card that forces him to take additional damage, thus unlocking his Limit Break ability. This reflects his willingness to take risks to gain an advantage. The match ends in a draw, contributing to the overall 1‑1 draw between the two teams before Aichi and Chris’s deciding fight.
Lee’s key relationships are with his teammates, particularly Christopher Lo, whom he respects as a rival he has yet to surpass, and Ali Pajeel, with whom he shares a camaraderie as fellow prodigies. He also has a notable connection to his family background: he is the heir to the Prime Minister of Singapore, a detail that adds to his sense of entitlement and pressure to succeed.
Development-wise, Lee appears again in later seasons, such as Link Joker‑hen and Legion Mate‑hen, as well as the film Neon Messiah, indicating he continues to grow as a fighter. However, within Asia Circuit Hen itself, his arc is limited to his introduction and the team battle, where his pride and ambition are clearly established.
Notable abilities include his use of a Great Nature deck, which focuses on boosting power and drawing cards, and his ability to activate Limit Break, a high‑risk, high‑reward mechanic that can turn the tide of a fight. His strategic thinking and aggressive playstyle make him a formidable young fighter, even if he has not yet reached the top of his team.
