Description
Bins is a character who appears as a primary antagonist and a key member of the Neo Marines, an independent military organization featured in the story. He is a former student of the ex-Marine Admiral Z, also known as Zephyr, and serves as one of his most loyal and trusted subordinates, often acting as his right-hand man.
Regarding his background, Bins was originally a Marine soldier who trained under Admiral Z during his time as an instructor. He was one of the few survivors of a tragic incident in which a powerful pirate with a Devil Fruit ability attacked a Marine training vessel. This event resulted in the loss of Z's arm and the deaths of many of his students, leaving Bins and his comrade Ain as the sole survivors besides Z himself. Following this tragedy, the pirate responsible was granted a position as one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. In protest against this decision by the World Government, Z left the Marines. Out of deep loyalty and respect for their teacher, Bins and Ain resigned alongside him, and together the three of them became the founding members of the Neo Marines, a rogue force dedicated to Z's mission of eradicating pirates.
In terms of personality, Bins is portrayed as a serious and dedicated individual who shares his master's profound hatred for pirates. He holds Z in the highest regard, consistently addressing him with the honorific sensei, and his actions are almost entirely motivated by a desire to serve Z's will and protect his goals. Despite his often stern and no-nonsense demeanor, he is known to make odd, exaggerated facial expressions and break into peculiar dances when activating his powers in battle, which creates a distinct contrast in his behavior. His devotion to Z is not blind servitude but stems from genuine respect and care, as he is visibly distraught by Z's eventual death, mourning him tearfully alongside Ain.
Bins plays a significant role in the narrative as a primary enforcer for the Neo Marines. He participates in the attack on the island of Firs to secure a powerful explosive substance known as Dyna Stone and later leads the assault on the Straw Hats' ship, the Thousand Sunny. Using his abilities, he successfully subdues several crew members, including Franky, Usopp, Chopper, and Brook. He engages in combat with the Straw Hat cook Sanji on two separate occasions. Their first encounter on the island of Secon ends inconclusively, allowing Bins to retreat. However, during their final confrontation on the island of Piriado, he is decisively defeated by Sanji. His key relationships are primarily with his master, Z, and his fellow officer, Ain, with whom he shares a strong bond of camaraderie as fellow survivors and loyal followers of their teacher. He also has a history with the former Admiral Aokiji, who was also a student of Z, though they find themselves on opposing sides during the events of the story.
Bins' notable abilities are derived from a combination of rigorous training and a Devil Fruit power. He has been trained in the Rokushiki, a secret martial arts technique used by elite members of the World Government's forces, and has demonstrated proficiency in the Soru technique, which allows for movement at incredible speeds. His speed is such that he was able to evade attacks from Nico Robin's Hana Hana no Mi, a feat rarely accomplished. In addition to his physical prowess, he is proficient in the use of ninja weaponry, including a sword and a large shuriken, and carries smoke bombs for tactical retreats. His primary power comes from having eaten the Mosa Mosa no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. This fruit grants him the ability to rapidly accelerate the growth of plants and manipulate them according to his will. To activate this power, he must perform a dance, and the speed and amplitude of his movements influence the ability's effectiveness. He can generate massive vines from the ground to bind enemies, create plant matter to defend against bullets and rockets, or create vines under his feet for high-speed sliding and mobility. After Z's death, Bins and Ain are last seen mourning him at his makeshift grave, after which his ultimate fate is not revealed.
