Description
Kamon Day is the main protagonist of the B-Daman Fireblast anime, an energetic eleven-year-old boy living in the south area of Crest Land. He is the youngest son in his family and works part-time as a delivery boy and waiter at his older sister Eona’s restaurant. Kamon has a distinctive appearance characterized by his bright red hair and orange-red eyes. His typical outfit includes a white scarf, a dark grey shirt with rolled-up sleeves, a blue underlayer, red pants, and grey boots. The white scarf he wears is an inherited item from his older brother.
At the start of the series, Kamon is a cheerful, hot-blooded, and outgoing boy who is eager to play B-Daman, though he can be somewhat impatient and scatterbrained. He possesses a fierce competitive spirit and a never-give-up attitude, approaching battles with enthusiasm and a good heart. He treats other B-Shots, or players, in his area with respect and kindness. Despite his love for the game, Kamon suffers from a mysterious past; he has lost all his memories of his family and his history as a B-Shot, with his older sister Eona being the only relative he remembers. This memory loss was the result of a past battle against his older brother, Roma Day, the Grand B-Master of Crest Land. Kamon had challenged his brother over the strict and often cruel laws of the Road Fight, a local competitive system where the loser must obey any command from the winner. After his defeat, he lost his B-Daman, Drive Garuburn’s B-Animal, and most of his memories.
His journey begins when he unknowingly rebuilds his old partner, Drive Garuburn, at a local B-Daman shop called B-Junk. Kamon feels an inexplicable and powerful connection to this B-Daman, as they share the same mysterious dreams, suggesting they are destined partners. Reunited with Garuburn, Kamon sets a new goal to become the number one B-Shot, re-entering the world of competitive B-Daman battles. As the story progresses, Kamon’s role becomes central to changing Crest Land itself. The World B-Daman Association dispatches other B-Shots to the region to replace the harsh Road Fight with the more earnest and skill-based Crossfire competitions. Through heated battles, Kamon and his friends begin to understand the true fun of B-Daman. His personal mission evolves as he gradually regains his lost memories and aims to lead the B-Shots of Crest Land down a better path.
A distinctive aspect of Kamon’s character is a transformation known as Dark Kamon. When pushed into a corner during a battle with the odds heavily against him, Kamon can enter a terrifying berserker-like state. In this form, his inner darkness manifests as an aura of black fire, and the whites of his eyes turn black. His personality becomes filled with negative emotions such as anger and arrogance. This dark state is closely linked to his older brother, Roma, who once used the Kirin B-Daman, Triple Glillusion, to manipulate Kamon by exploiting his negative emotions.
Regarding his key relationships, his family history is a major driving force for the plot. His brother Roma serves as a primary antagonist and the Grand B-Master, while his other brother, Greg Day, is the owner of the B-Junk shop where Kamon spends much of his time. Throughout the series, Kamon develops important friendships and rivalries with other B-Shots who have come to Crest Land, such as Samuru Shigami, which help him grow as a player. Kamon’s development is marked by his gradual recovery of his forgotten past and his maturation as a leader who seeks to change the culture of B-Daman in Crest Land for the better.
In battle, Kamon is partnered with Drive Garuburn, a dual-type B-Daman that possesses both power and rapid-fire capabilities. His signature technique is the Burning Overdrive, an Emblem Charge Shot that he mastered almost immediately upon reuniting with Garuburn. Kamon’s abilities grow throughout the series as he learns the rules of new competitive formats, such as the DX Break Bomber 7, and stubbornly vows to become stronger alongside his friends.
