Description
Pao-Lin Huang, also written Pao-Ling Huang, is the young Chinese hero better known by her professional alias Dragon Kid. She appears as one of the supporting heroes in Tiger & Bunny The Movie -The Rising-. Dragon Kid is a NEXT, meaning she was born with a superhuman ability, and in her case that ability is the power to generate and control electricity. She works within the televised hero system of Stern Bild City, where she is employed by the communications company Odysseus Communication and is promoted to the public under the nickname the Lightning Bolt Kung Fu Master.

Her background sets her apart from many of her colleagues. She is of Chinese origin, and her parents stayed behind in China rather than moving with her to Stern Bild City. She came to the city on her own to pursue her career as a professional hero, which has made her independent and self-reliant from a young age. She is described as someone who received focused training early in life with the goal of becoming a hero, and that upbringing shows in her disciplined approach to her work.

In terms of personality, Dragon Kid is a tomboy who shows little concern for conventional ideas of femininity and prefers action and training over more traditionally girly activities. She is serious, hardworking, and professional while on duty, and she carries herself with a maturity that often seems beyond her years. She maintains a strict personal fitness routine, running long distances and performing hundreds of sit-ups every day, in order to keep her body in top condition. Her dedication to self-improvement is one of her defining traits, and she approaches her hero duties with a focus that earns her respect from those around her.

Her main motivation is the desire to succeed as a hero and to climb the public rankings. She is ambitious about her career and takes pride in her skills, but that ambition is paired with a genuine sense of responsibility. She does not rely on her natural talent alone; she constantly works to become stronger and more capable, which makes her a dependable presence during dangerous missions.

Within the story of The Rising, Dragon Kid plays a supporting role alongside the other heroes as they respond to a new crisis threatening the city. She participates in the action as part of the larger hero team, and her most significant development in the film is the growth of her powers. While she had always been able to generate electrical discharges, during the events of the movie she learns to shape her lightning into more elaborate forms, most notably a large Chinese dragon. This new technique represents a major advance in her combat ability and proves valuable during the final confrontation.

Her relationships with the other heroes are professional and cooperative. As the youngest hero in the lineup, she is sometimes seen as the junior member of the group, but her competence lets her hold her own alongside more experienced fighters. She lives with her manager and interacts regularly with her fellow heroes, and she comes across as a reliable teammate who can adapt to working with different personalities. Her youth occasionally puts her at odds with the more seasoned heroes, but she is generally well regarded and treated as a valued member of the team.

In combat, Dragon Kid combines her NEXT ability with traditional martial arts. She is a skilled kung fu fighter who wields a staff as her primary weapon, and she channels her electrical power through her fighting style. She can launch lightning-based attacks, use her staff to focus and direct her energy, and strike with electrified blows. Her combat style is agile and precise, blending physical technique with her supernatural gift. The ability she develops in The Rising to reshape her lightning into a dragon form highlights both her technical mastery and her potential for continued growth as a hero.
