Description
Naho Saenoki is a seventeen-year-old student from Paulownia Academy high school class 2-1 and one of the victims trapped inside Heavenly Host Elementary School. She is a spirit medium with notably strong supernatural abilities, which allow her existence to persist longer than that of most other trapped individuals. Before becoming a victim, she was a well-known paranormal blogger who posted the instructions for the Sachiko Ever After charm online.
At first, Naho presents herself as stoic, wise, and enigmatic, often giving the impression of harboring ethically ambiguous views. As the story progresses, her darker emotions surface, especially when Ayumi Shinozaki confronts her about the true circumstances behind the death of Kou Kibiki and the nature of the Sachiko Ever After charm. Beneath her calm exterior, Naho is driven by an intense desire and obsession for Kou Kibiki, her mentor. She regards their relationship as a father-daughter bond, though her feelings border on romantic in extreme cases. This fixation on Kibiki and his fame is her primary motivation and her greatest weakness, ultimately leading to her possession by the Darkening. She is also deeply selfish, willing to sacrifice others—including her best friend Sayaka—to death if it helps her find Kibiki.
In the narrative, Naho first appears as a ghost who rescues Ayumi Shinozaki and Yoshiki Kishinuma from a vengeful child spirit. She advises them to locate the severed tongues of murdered children to lay their spirits to rest. Later, Ayumi realizes that Naho intentionally lied in her blog about how to correctly perform the Sachiko Ever After ritual, causing people to be trapped in Heavenly Host. This revelation leads to a confrontation in which Ayumi vanquishes Naho. Naho is also shown reuniting Satoshi Mochida with Naomi Nakashima during the chaos.
Because of her spiritual power, Naho was not fully absorbed into the school as other victims were; instead, she wanders the building in search of Kibiki, having forgotten the memory of her own death. Her notable abilities include her role as a spirit medium, her expertise in the occult (which she used to create the blog), and her considerable supernatural resilience. Her development is largely tragic—her initial helpfulness masks a manipulative and obsessive nature that ultimately consumes her. Her key relationships are with Kou Kibiki, the object of her obsession; Sayaka, her best friend whom she betrays; and Ayumi, who sees through her deception and becomes her foil.
