Description
Minako Ayuzawa is the mother of Misaki Ayuzawa and Suzuna Ayuzawa. She has black hair typically tied in a messy bun with bangs framing her face, and she possesses a slim figure with a youthful appearance that closely resembles her daughters and does not betray her actual age. She works as a nurse at a hospital, often during the night shift, and appears to have a somewhat sickly constitution, yet she does her best to support her family financially despite her own physical limitations.
Her husband vanished when Misaki was in middle school, leaving the family burdened with a significant amount of debt. This event forced the family into a difficult financial situation and placed heavy responsibility on Misaki, who began working part-time to help pay off the debt. Minako is deeply grateful for Misaki's efforts but also worries about her daughter and wishes for Misaki to have more fun and enjoy a normal teenage life rather than sacrificing everything for work.
In terms of personality, Minako is a very friendly, gentle, and trusting woman. She tends to believe in others easily, a trait that sometimes leads her to be seen as naive or easily fooled. She becomes acquainted with Takumi Usui at a train station in the story and immediately perceives him as a very kind and gentle person, viewing him as the complete opposite of her absent husband. She does not allow her husband back into the house when he later attempts to reenter their lives, showing a firm boundary despite her otherwise warm nature.
Within the story, Minako serves as a secondary but important supporting character. Her situation is a primary motivation for Misaki's relentless work ethic and determination. Minako also plays a role in affirming Misaki's relationship with Usui, as her positive opinion of him helps reinforce the idea that he is trustworthy and genuinely cares for her daughter. Over the course of the narrative, she continues to work as a nurse while encouraging Misaki to find balance and happiness. Her notable abilities include her dedication to her nursing profession, her capacity for hard work despite her health, and her trusting, kind-hearted nature that provides emotional warmth for her family.
