Movie
Description
Murata Jinetsu, also known as Murata Jintetsu, is the late father of Murata Tetsuya and Murata Tetsuko. He was celebrated as the greatest swordsmith in Edo, a reputation built on his unmatched skill in forging blades. His most famous creation is the original Benizakura sword, a legendary weapon that later becomes central to the events of the movie. Though he never appears alive in the story, his legacy shapes the motivations and actions of his children. His son Tetsuya becomes obsessed with surpassing his father by creating a perfected, bio‑mechanical version of the Benizakura, while his daughter Tetsuko upholds the traditional values of their craft. Jinetsu’s influence is felt through the moral and technical standards he left behind, and his single‑minded dedication to his art represents the ideal of a master smith. His abilities as a swordsmith are the foundation of his entire role in the narrative, and his past work drives the central conflict of the Benizakura arc.
