Description
Qin is a supporting character in the anime Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha Gaiden. He is a cook living in Hong Kong with connections to the criminal underworld, and he appears as an adult man with short, messy black hair and long sideburns. He has a nervous manner and is a smoker, but he also shows a caring side, most notably when he takes in an orphaned baby.

In terms of background, Qin works as a cook in Hong Kong, and his underworld ties make him a useful contact for people needing discreet arrangements. When Hei and Yin arrive in the city while escaping their pursuers, they go to him to prepare their onward journey. At their request, he spreads a rumor that Yin is being sold, which sets up a meeting with Xiao Jie, a powerful figure in the local underworld.

His motivations are not explored in depth. His actions throughout the story suggest a sense of duty and concern for others: he agrees to help Hei and Yin despite the risk, and he later takes on responsibility for an abandoned infant. He also acts as a voice of accountability when he scolds Hei over his heavy drinking.

Within the story, Qin serves first as a contact and helper during Hei and Yin's time in Hong Kong. He later becomes a chef for the Contractors sheltering in the EPR hideout. When Claude's interference causes Yin to begin awakening and she kills those around her, Qin survives the incident and hears a baby crying; he carries the infant back to the hideout. Afterward, he returns to Hong Kong, where he looks after the child while continuing his chef duties, and Hei eventually stays at his establishment in the aftermath of the events.

His key relationships include that with Hei, whom he assists early on and later hosts while Hei grieves; with Yin, whom he helps carry out their plan in Hong Kong; with Xiao Jie, whom he brings into contact with Hei and Yin; and with the baby he rescues, whom he takes on as a caretaker. His development over the course of the story moves him from a nervous supporting figure into someone who takes meaningful personal responsibility for another life.

Qin has no supernatural abilities; he is an ordinary person within a world of Contractors and Dolls. His notable strengths are practical: his skill as a cook, his knowledge of Hong Kong's criminal networks, and his ability to spread information and make introductions. These talents allow him to help others without relying on force.
