Description
Angie Hinomoto, known as Akari Hinomoto in the original Japanese version, is a central protagonist in Digimon Fusion. She is a twelve-year-old sixth grader and a long-time friend of the main hero, Mikey Kudo, despite being one year younger than him. She lives with her parents, two younger brothers, and a younger sister, a family dynamic that has instilled in her a naturally responsible and caring disposition.

In terms of personality, Angie often comes across as a strict and sensible pre-teen who tries to keep the group organized and focused. She is described as smart, feisty, and a ball of energy who likes to talk fast and take control of situations to ensure things go according to plan. Her strong moral compass positions her as a peacemaker within the group, but she is not afraid to voice her concerns, particularly when it comes to Mikey. She frequently worries about his tendency to perform reckless stunts and overexert himself without thinking, often scolding him for such behavior. Despite her younger age, their bond resembles an older sister-younger brother relationship, largely due to her experience caring for her own siblings. While she generally appears stern, she has a cheerful side and deeply misses her family after arriving in the Digital World, making her return home a personal priority.

Angie's role in the story begins when she is transported to the Digital World alongside Mikey and their friend Jeremy Tsurugi. Initially, her primary motivation is to find a way back to the Human World, and she supports the goal of helping the Digimon Shoutmon become king largely because she believes it will grant them a way home. As the series progresses, she serves as an anchor for the group, providing emotional support and practical advice. Her bravery is a key asset during critical battles, such as when her courage helps in the fight against the Bagra Army officer Tactimon. After the first major story arc, she and Jeremy return to the Human World while Mikey continues his journey, though she remains a figure he wishes to protect from new dangers.

Her key relationships are primarily with her human and Digimon companions. Her bond with Mikey Kudo is the most significant, defined by her protective nature and occasional jealousy when others, such as Beastmon, care for him. She shares a close friendship with Jeremy Tsurugi, and together they represent Mikey's connection to his life outside of the Digital World. Angie is a member of the Xros Heart army and has significant partnerships with specific Digimon. While she is close to Cutemon and Dorulumon, who become her official partners in the final season, she also gains the ability to command Digimon like Sparrowmon and Mervamon in battle.

Angie undergoes notable development throughout the series. While she is a main character in the first season, she and Jeremy are largely absent from the second, having returned to the human world. In the third season, Mikey attempts to hide the existence of a new threat called DigiQuartz to protect her, but she eventually learns the truth and becomes directly involved again. Her most significant development occurs near the end of the series when she finally receives her own orange Fusion Loader, officially becoming a general in her own right with her own partner Digimon. This marks her full transition from a supportive friend to an active fighter in the Digital World's defense.

In terms of notable abilities, Angie does not initially possess a Fusion Loader but contributes through her intelligence, courage, and personal charm. For instance, she uses her charm to successfully open the Treasure Ruin in the Sand Zone, allowing her group to obtain a Code Crown and new DigiMemories. She also demonstrates skill at video games, which translates into an ability to control certain Digimon, such as the Mantaraymon, during specific challenges. After receiving her Fusion Loader, her primary ability becomes the power to reload and command Digimon like Cutemon, Dorulumon, Sparrowmon, and Mervamon in combat, allowing her to participate directly in large-scale fusions and battles.
