Description
Chiri Kitsu is a student in class 2-F, though her classmates frequently refer to her as the class representative due to her behavior, a title she does not officially hold. Physically, she is a fair-skinned girl with long black hair that she traditionally wears in a style parted precisely down the middle; ironically, her natural hair is actually curly rather than straight. Her defining characteristic is an extreme, obsessive-compulsive need for everything in her life to be precise, equal, and conforming. Even minor imperfections cause her significant distress, and she is known for her methodical approach to all tasks. This personality trait is reflected in the origin of her name, which is derived from the Japanese word kitchiri, meaning precisely.

Her role in the story is primarily defined by her interactions with her teacher, Nozomu Itoshiki. When things are not done properly, she can become extremely cruel and violent, often threatening, stabbing, or attempting to kill, torture, or bury those who transgress her rules, with Itoshiki-sensei being her most frequent target. Her weapon of choice is a shovel, a visual gag linked to the kanji in her first name, which combine to form the first character of the word umeru, meaning to bury. She is known to conceal numerous razors and knives within her clothing, such as in her bra. Despite this homicidal hostility towards him, she once demanded that Itoshiki marry her after they accidentally took a nap together in the same bed. She is also remarkably knowledgeable about violent international historical events.

Several recurring gags are associated with her character based on wordplay. Her name contains two of the same kanji found in senrigan, meaning clairvoyance, which manifests occasionally as a psychic third eye appearing on her forehead. In some of her dialogue, particularly in later anime series, punctuation marks such as question marks appear on screen at the end of her sentences. Information regarding her background reveals that she has an older sister named Tane Kitsu. She also shares a significant history with her classmate Harumi Fujiyoshi, having been a lonely transfer student as a child who was afraid to make friends because she expected to move again. Harumi was the first person to reach out to her, and they developed a close, friendly relationship, though they never formally confirmed their friendship.
