A-ou is a nineteen-year-old male character from the Kiddy Grade series. He serves as an S-Class ES member, a secret agent operating within the Galactic Organization of Trade and Tariffs (GOTT). He is tall with a large stature, gray hair worn at ear length, green eyes, and distinctive facial markings, and is often depicted wearing boots and gloves. His name, along with his partner’s, is derived from the Buddhist concept of “Ah” and “Un,” representing beginning and end, which suits his serious and grounded nature. A-ou is defined by a strong sense of honor, justice, and a deeply ingrained pacifism. He values diplomatic solutions and treats others with respect, often speaking in a profound and meaningful manner that can come across as preachy. He is the more stoic and thoughtful member of his duo, contrasting with his partner’s impulsive and cynical personality. Before becoming an ES member, A-ou worked as a mercenary alongside his partner Un-ou. During that time, they frequently clashed with fellow agents Éclair and Lumière, establishing a long-standing rivalry that evolves over time from hostility to grudging mutual respect. Although initially loyal to GOTT, A-ou and Un-ou later betray the organization and go into hiding, eventually resurfacing to support the character Eclipse. When GOTT is ordered to disband, they can no longer serve as official ES members, but A-ou continues to fight alongside his partner to save their world. Together, they also taught a younger character named Ku Piyu. A-ou’s primary relationship is with his partner Un-ou, with whom he works exclusively. Their dynamic is one of complementary opposites, and they share an unbreakable bond of trust and combat synergy. His ES ability is called the Amplifier. This power allows him to amplify his visual perception tenfold, enabling him to see minute details and detect the flow of energy emitted by living creatures. He can perceive the light of a person’s life force and witness how it dims as they approach death. A-ou can also amplify his own nervous system to drastically enhance his physical abilities and strength. Furthermore, he can use the energy perceived by Un-ou to increase the power of his own physical attacks, making their partnership synergistically effective in combat. He is capable of using this ability even in the vacuum of space.
