Description
Adiane, often referred to as Adiane the Elegant, is a secondary antagonist and holds the position of the second of the Spiral King's Four Supreme Generals. She is notable as the only female general among their number. Her appearance is almost entirely human, characterized by her slender figure, blue hair, and red eyes. However, her true nature as a beastman, a human-scorpion hybrid, is revealed through her long, thick scorpion tail and a distinctive snake-like eye. She typically wears an eyepatch over her left eye, the straps of which coil around her body, along with a loose-fitting dress and heels.

In terms of personality, Adiane is intensely hot-blooded, impulsive, and aggressive. She is quick to anger, a trait that often lands her in difficult situations or leads her to take out her frustrations on her subordinates, most notably Viral. Despite her short-tempered and arrogant demeanor, she is also portrayed as loyal and obedient to the Spiral King, Lordgenome, and possesses a strong sense of pride in her abilities as a warrior. Her motivations are heavily influenced by her relationships with her fellow generals. She shares a strong bond of friendship and mutual respect with Thymilph, who treated her as an equal warrior, unlike the other generals, Guame and Cytomander, who she implies view her as inferior because of her gender.

Adiane's primary role in the story is set into motion following the death of her friend, Thymilph. Stunned and enraged by his loss, she vows revenge against Team Dai-Gurren and volunteers to lead the attack against them. Her pride becomes a key driving force; after boasting about her mission, she refuses to return to the capital of Teppelin until she has completely destroyed her enemies. She eventually confronts the protagonists as they cross a great sea, exploiting her natural affinity for aquatic combat to set a trap. With the aid of Viral piloting her flagship, the Dai-Gunkai, she battles Simon and Kamina in her personal Gunmen, the Sayrune. Her plan ultimately fails, and in a final desperate act, she attempts to take the princess Nia hostage. This move is thwarted by a precise shot from Yoko, leaving her vulnerable to a barrage of cannon fire from the Dai-Gurren, which destroys her Gunmen and kills her instantly. Her final lament is her regret for failing to avenge Thymilph.

Despite her impulsive nature, Adiane is an exceptionally skilled pilot and fighter. As one of the Four Supreme Generals, she possesses immense power, capable of battling multiple powerful Gunmen simultaneously and even gaining the upper hand against the Gurren-Lagann when fighting in her favored element of water. Outside of her mecha, she is also a formidable combatant, demonstrating superhuman strength and speed, using her sharp fingernails and powerful scorpion tail as weapons. Her tail is durable enough to deflect machine-gun fire, and she has displayed a high tolerance for pain. Her signature Gunmen, the Sayrune, is named after the mythical Azure Dragon, Seiryuu, and can transform from a winged humanoid form into a powerful scorpion-like configuration. Her own name is a portmanteau of the DNA chemical adenine and the water elemental undine, reflecting her elegant yet deadly nature.
