Description
Delphinium is a character from the second part of the Blue Dragon anime series, known as Blue Dragon: Trials of the Seven Shadows. She serves as one of the primary antagonists throughout the story.

Delphinium is a woman with a distinctive appearance, characterized by her long, light pink or purple hair that reaches her waist and her blue eyes. Her attire includes an unusual piece of clothing accented with a pink belt and a white pearl necklace worn around her throat. Her background is that of a secret intelligence agent from the Gran Kingdom, where she originally worked under the command of General Logi.

In terms of personality, Delphinium is portrayed as a complex and often sarcastic individual. During the first part of the anime, she appears loyal to General Logi but is frequently critical of his other subordinates, such as the members of the Independent Flying Squadron. When addressing the main group of heroes led by Shu, she often adopts a sarcastic tone. Her loyalties, however, are not absolute; it is revealed that her true allegiance had always been to Nene, the original villain of the series, and she even attempted to kill General Logi after he assumed leadership of the Gran Kingdom.

Her motivations shift as the narrative progresses. Initially acting as an agent for General Logi, her actions are driven by her secret devotion to Nene. Following Nene’s destruction, she turns against General Logi when he announces Gran Kingdom's secession. She later rescues a character named Deathroy from the Sealed Grounds, forming a significant partnership with him. By the events of Trials of the Seven Shadows, which takes place two years later, her motivations center on her rivalry with the character Jiro, whom she constantly challenges to fights, and on her partnership with Deathroy, remaining largely on her own.

Delphinium plays a significant role in the story's key conflicts. In her first appearance, she orchestrates the theft of a powerful artifact known as the Extra Seven and eliminates the spy she used for the task. During a final confrontation in the first season, she uses her shadow to kill the character Homeron and even repels the powerful Blue Dragon. She also demonstrates a deep knowledge of the Ra Clan's abilities, allowing her to detect an invisible Bouquet. After betraying General Logi, she and Deathroy later join the fight against the Demon Zola. In Trials of the Seven Shadows, she captures Bouquet to use her as leverage, forcing the character Noi to reawaken Deathroy's shadow. She later defects from her allies and nearly dies in a fight with Hildegard, only to be saved by Deathroy. Ultimately, she and Deathroy assist the main characters in their final battle against Rudolph, where she commands Deathroy to use his shadow to save Jiro.

One of the most notable aspects of Delphinium is her shadow, the physical manifestation of her power. Her primary shadow is a three-headed creature that resembles a cross between a hydra and a beetle, which is capable of firing laser beams from its mouths. She can also partially manifest the creature's legs for defensive purposes. This shadow is described as a false shadow, similar to the character Killer Bat's, rather than an artificial one created by Nene. After rescuing Deathroy, she uses him to summon a second, far more powerful shadow named Chimera. Chimera is a colossal red dragon, even larger than the Blue Dragon, though it does not speak and only makes crackling noises.
