Description
Minotauros is the name of the shadow that belongs to Jiro, one of the main characters in the anime Blue Dragon: Trials of the Seven Shadows. This shadow takes the form of a large, muscular bull-like humanoid, generally depicted with a green coloration. In the anime, Minotauros is one of the wiser shadows, often knowing when Jiro has reached his limit and chiding him for using more energy than necessary in battle, although Jiro does not always heed this advice. Despite this, Minotauros always takes opponents seriously and maintains a calm demeanor when engaging new enemies, which contrasts with Jiro’s own serious and often cold personality. While Jiro is reserved and focused, Minotauros is portrayed as more lighthearted and good-humored, creating a dynamic where the shadow’s personality complements his owner’s.

Throughout the story, Minotauros serves as Jiro’s primary combat ally, using physical strength and close-range attacks. One of his signature techniques is called Gou Shou Reppa, a powerful palm strike. In the video game source material, Minotaur is associated with white magic, but in the anime adaptation the emphasis is on his brute force and tactical wisdom. During the events of the second season, Trials of the Seven Shadows, Jiro temporarily loses the ability to summon Minotauros, leaving him without his shadow for a stretch of the narrative. This loss challenges Jiro to grow stronger on his own, and later in the season, Minotauros is revived after Jiro demonstrates renewed power and resolve, marking an important turning point for the character. After his revival, Minotauros fights alongside Jiro with even greater strength, reinforcing the bond between shadow and user.

Minotauros’s primary relationship is with Jiro, but he also interacts with other shadows and the group as a whole. He is supportive of Jiro’s growth and acts as a steadying influence in battle. His presence in the story emphasizes themes of partnership and the balance between raw power and control.
