TV-Series
Description
Natsumi Asō is a first-year high school student who attends the same school as Sora Kajiwara and is a member of the art club. She is a lively and spontaneous girl who often brings new topics and ideas into conversations, acting as a natural catalyst for the group. She speaks with a Hakata dialect, reflecting the Fukuoka setting of the story. Natsumi’s main hobby is making puppets, which she uses for a variety of purposes: as study aids to help with memorization, as tools for problem-solving, and even as substitute friends when she feels the need for company. She owns a large collection of these handmade puppets. At home, she has a dog named Kuro, whose energy levels are described as having only two modes: hyper and off.
Natsumi is a close friend and classmate of Sora Kajiwara. Her outgoing and talkative nature perfectly complements Sora’s quiet and introverted demeanor, and she shows a strong interest in understanding her reserved friend. She also interacts frequently with other art club members, such as Hazuki Torikai, and sometimes takes the lead in activities or conversations that involve the group. Her cousin, Ueno Soun, is a former art club member and an alumnus of the school, which may have influenced her involvement in the club.
Within the story, Natsumi serves as a source of energy and warmth, often drawing out the quieter characters and encouraging a lively atmosphere in the art club. Her puppet-making and use of puppets for communication or study highlight a creative and resourceful side, though her primary role is that of a supportive friend who fosters a sense of connection among the club members. She does not undergo a dramatic character arc, but her consistent presence helps maintain the gentle, slice-of-life tone of the series. Her ability to engage others and her cheerful disposition make her an integral part of the art club’s dynamic.
