Description
Ikuto Noguchi, known as Keenan Crier in some English versions, is a core protagonist from Digimon Data Squad, serving as the human partner to the Digimon Falcomon. His background is deeply unusual compared to other characters, as he was born in the human world to scientists Kenji and Misuzu Noguchi but was accidentally transported to the Digital World as a mere infant. There, he was found and raised by a Frigimon, a gentle Digimon who became his foster mother, and later, after her death, by the powerful Merukimon. This upbringing completely severed his ties to humanity, and he grew up believing himself to be a Digimon.

His personality is initially marked by a wild, feral quality and a deep-seated distrust, even hatred, for humans. This worldview is not born from simple misunderstanding but from a specific, traumatic event: the scientist Akihiro Kurata led an assault on the Digital World, and during this attack, his foster mother Frigimon was deleted before his very eyes while trying to protect him. Consequently, Ikuto is fiercely protective of the Digital World and sees all humans as a violent, genocidal threat to its peace. Despite his young age, he is a highly capable and independent fighter. His movements and combat style mirror the ninja-like techniques of his partner Falcomon, and he is often seen wielding a large boomerang, wearing a green cloak, and bearing feather ornaments and facial paint.

Ikuto serves as an antagonistic force when first introduced, directly attacking the DATS team when they enter the Digital World. His role in the story is that of a bridge between two worlds. Through his forced journey to the human world and his repeated battles and uneasy alliances with the main characters, especially the headstrong Masaru Daimon, he slowly gains a new perspective. He is forced to confront the fact that not all humans are evil. A pivotal moment in his development occurs when he learns the truth about his biological parents. While his memories of his Digimon mother remain sacred to him, he meets the Noguchis, seeing his mother Misuzu who had been emotionally shattered by his disappearance. This encounter forces him to reconcile his identity as a child of the Digital World with his human origins. He struggles with this duality, at one point denouncing his humanity to protect his family from government persecution, but ultimately comes to accept that he has two families he wishes to protect.

Key relationships define his journey. His bond with Masaru is particularly important; Masaru’s unwavering belief in fighting for what is right and his refusal to give up on Ikuto acts as a catalyst for change. He also shares a deep, sibling-like loyalty with his partner Falcomon, who often serves as a strategic and calming influence. His relationship with his foster father Merukimon is one of respect and loyalty, and Merukimon’s dying words help Ikuto realize that he should only fight evil humans, not all of them. His reconciliation with his birth parents, Kenji and Misuzu Noguchi, and his younger sister Yuka, represents his final step toward embracing his complete self.

Throughout the series, Ikuto undergoes significant character development. He transforms from a wild child driven by blind vengeance into a mature young hero who understands the nuances of good and evil in both humans and Digimon. This emotional growth is directly linked to his abilities. His DigiSoul, the energy used to evolve his partner, awakens and grows in power as he resolves his inner conflicts. At his lowest point, moved by Merukimon's last words, his DigiSoul allows Falcomon to evolve into his Perfect/Ultimate form, Yatagaramon. Later, facing the ultimate threat, he is able to achieve the Mega/Ultimate level evolution into Ravemon, and even the advanced Burst Mode, showcasing his full potential as a fighter and a true partner to Falcomon.
